Siem Reap, Cambodia | Cinematic | 3day Adventure Trip
A 3 day adventure trip with my travel buddies Kara, Steph, Liezel and Xian Mike. Our first day tour package was booked through Klook and paid SGD89.68 for everything including the van and a local tour guide. The package was basically a backcountry tour that brought us to different temples within the Angkor Wat enterprise. On our second day we booked a tuktuk which was recommended by a friend. The third day was just actually a half day tour because our flight back to Singapore was at 3:55pm. Here are the details of the tour packages and contacts if you wish to visit Siem Reap:
*1st day|BANTEAY SREI BACKCOUNTRY TOUR/Group of 12 (SGD89.68) Klook
-8am hotel pick-up
-Pre rup temple
-Banteay Srei
-Lunch (not included and they will bring you to a resto that is quite pricey)
-East Mebon Temple
-Ta Som Temple
-Preah Khan Temple
-5pm hotel drop off
*2nd day and 3rd Tour by Tuk-Tuk (Keo:+85570556123)
You can choose what other temples you want to go but they will bring you first to Angkor Wat for the sunrise and if you are lucky you'll get to see an amazing sunrise. They'll pick you up at the hotel at 4:30am.
Note: Most of the temples are within the Angkor Wat Enterprise premises so it is a must to get an Angkor Pass. 1day Pass - USD37; 3day Pass - USD62; 7day Pass - USD72. The official currency of Cambodia is Riel but you can use USD beacuse it is the defacto currency of the countey. Establishments and even in their public transpo uses USD as well in most of their transactions.
Siem Reap - Travel Day, Angkor Temple Tour (2019)

Why Angkor Wat (Siem Reap) is a must see | CAMBODIA
Another one of our life bucket list stops the Angkor Wat temples in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Needless to say we had an absolutely incredible time visiting the Khmer Hindu and Buddhist temple ruins.
Things started off in Phnom Penh where we caught the Cambodia Post VIP Van for $11 USD each to get to Siem Reap. This is the site we booked our Cambodia Post VIP Van tickets from:
They have a variety of routes and departure times. We found Cambodia Post VIP Van to be a pretty cheap and convenient way getting from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap, then using a tuk tuk for the remainder of our journey to get to our accommodation.
The ride from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap via Cambodia Post VIP Van took about 3 hours in total including a quick lunch stop and there were tuk tuks waiting around for us to get to our final destination (our Airbnb accommodation in Siem Reap) that ended up being just a few minutes drive away.
Our accommodation in Siem Reap was an urban studio located in the peaceful Kandal Village. The place was clean, stylish and comfortable. It's situated above Khmer 652 - a Cambodian restaurant that serves very delicious Khmer cuisine with super lovely staff. There are a handful of other cafes and restaurants nearby as well as local craft shops too.
Khmer 652 is owned by the Airbnb hosts so you also get a 10% discount for dining there. Our favourite meals during our time in Siem Reap were at Khmer 652 as well as Crane just at the back of their alley. We loved the location of our accommodation in Siem Reap because it's also in close walking distance to a supermarket, the river bank and the very lively Pub Street.
After a quick haircut and a browse around Kandal Village we got some rest before heading over to the Angkor Wat temple complex the next day. We opted to get a personal tour guide which turned out to be one of the best decisions ever.
Sarak was our tuk tuk driver and Angkor Wat travel guide, recommended to us from a fellow YouTuber friend. Sarak took us all around the amazing temples in the Angkor Wat temple complex, visiting the lesser-known and secret quiet areas (as well as the main temples too). He even took it upon himself to help us take some beautiful photos with our phone during our entire time together too. He was a driver, travel guide and photographer all in one!
Get in touch with Sarak:
meamsarak@gmail.com
+855 92 394 994
If you're wondering how to get to Angkor Wat, we definitely recommend going via tuk tuk with Sarak to enjoy the open air ride and if you want to go to the quieter spots like we did, simply let him know.
We bought a 3-day multi-pass to visit the Angkor Wat temple complex. First day we had Sarak and on our subsequent visits we had Mr Bean (Sarak's business partner) take us when we filmed Peter's Part 2 for his how to retire early series and on the final visit we went via Grab tuk tuk ourselves just to Angkor Wat. We were in Siem Reap visiting Angkor Wat during November. Btw, make sure to keep your Angkor Wat tickets with you as this gets checked at various entry points into the temple complex.
We visited the following temples:
- West Gate
- Angkor Thom
- Preah Khan
- Ta Prohm (also known as the Tomb Raider temple)
- Bayon (and then finally...)
- Angkor Wat
We also enjoyed a breath taking sunset away from the crowds at Srah Sang.

This video shows our highlights in Cambodia.
We started in Siem Reap to visit the temples for a day, next we went to Pnhnom Penh to learn about the horrible Khmer Rouge and then we went to Koh Rong for some relaxing time. On Koh Rong we went to a more quiet area of the island (nort/east). After Koh Rong we headed back up north to Laos. Travel Film | Mysterious Happiness of Siem Reap, Cambodia
Cambodia had a mysterious happiness vibe that continuously drew me in deeper each day. The need to figure out what was causing that kind of happiness was the reason I extended my stay from three days to ten. The answer is rather simple. Cambodians wake up genuinely happy and keep life simple. That wasn’t the case in the mid 1970’s when Cambodia faced a bloody and brutal revolution in an the attempt to eliminate all knowledge of the world. The genocide committed by Khmer Rough left millions dead and severely hindered Cambodia’s economic and cultural growth. Since the end of the genocide, families have been moving forward, focusing on creating a promising future for the new generation with a strong emphasis on education. Although the differences between the generations were clear, they all share the same hope of a better tomorrow.
There's so much more than temples in Cambodia so I'd highly recommend visiting the country sooner than later.
