Cameron Lake At Waterton Lakes National Park June 2009
Taking in Cameron Lake at Waterton Lakes National Park. My favourite site and kinda surreal when you can see 3 places at once with the Alberta, British Columbia, and Montana borders all meet. Mount Custer which is in Montana is staring right back at you.

The Continental Divide forms the boundary between Alberta and British Columbia, and the western boundary of Waterton Lakes National Park, as it runs through Forum Peak, with the international boundary for Canada and USA just south of Forum Peak.
Video starts with Mount Custer (left) in Glacier National Park in Montana, with Forum Peak (right) and the tripoint of Alberta-British Columbia-Montana, as it pans clockwise for views of the area around Cameron Lake. USA is across the other side of Cameron Lake.
5 Things in Waterton Lakes National Park for First Timers
I list off 5 things to experience in Waterton if it's your first time going to the park. These must-see places include: The Bear's Hump hike, which is a steep climb that offers some of the best views in the park.
Red Rock Canyon, which is a canyon with red coloured red due to the high iron in the rock.
Cameron Falls, which is a large and impressive waterfall located in the town site.
Exploring the town site itself can prove to be a neat adventure, make sure you eat at some of the local restaurants (my personal favorites are Pizza of Waterton and the Big Scoop.
Last is Cameron Lake, a short drive from the town that offers incredible views and a chance to do the short hike to Akamina Lake.

Cameron Lake Waterton Lakes National Park
The climax of a 16 km (10 mile) scenic highway known as the Akamina Parkway, is Cameron Lake. Nestled between the majestic mountain peaks of the Akamina Ridge, this sub-alpine lake is one of many serene bodies of water that makes up Waterton Lakes National Park. Beautiful Cameron lake is a great place to rent a canoe and grizzlies are often seen on the far slopes.

The video shows us Kayaking on Cameron Lake in Waterton/Glacier Park. The video was taken at 7:00 AM in the morning when the lake was glass smooth. At the end of the paddle there was a light rain fall. The scenes are peaceful and serene. Included in the video is a scene of ducks, and at far end of the lake near Mt. Custard there is a close up of snow pack.
Cameron Lake to Waterton Townsite, with the summit of Mt. Carthew
Sorry it's mostly just a slideshow, but I had to get a 22km hike with 1000m elevation gain then 1500m loss complete in less than half a day. Managed to do the whole trip then drive 3 hours back to Calgary by sunset! My first solo back country adventure too.
It was an incredible day. Started at the Cameron Lake boathouse, hiked up to Hidden Lake, headed up to the col known as Carthew Summit between Mt. Carthew and Mt. Alderson, then headed up to the REAL summit of Mt. Carthew. From there, I headed past the three Carthew Lakes and Alderson Lake, towards the town of Waterton.
After almost seven hours on foot almost entirely alone, with less than a minute of hiking to go, I encountered a black bear face to face right at the town boundary. It was an adventure, for sure!

Kayaking and fishing on Cameron Lake in Waterton Lakes National Park
May long weekend 2015. Snowing/raining. The surface water temperature of the north part of Cameron lake was about 1.5 degrees C higher than that of the south part, which was still covered with thin ice. Interesting local climate. The maximum depth of Cameron Lake is 39 meters. I measured the depth to be between 20 to 30 meters using my sonar fish finder at the center area of the lake. Unfortunately, fish was not biting. I may come back here after June and the creek outflow near the boat launch seems to be a good spot to start fishing.
The south part of the Cameron Lake near the CANADA-US boarder is a good place to see bears, mostly black bears, although their fur color could be cinnamon.
Check one of my videos of a cinnamon black bear eating along the drive way between Cameron Lake and Waterton Lakes Town. Visit TheCampfireTime.com for more information.

Waterton Lakes National Park Trip 2019 | Journey Alberta
I travel to Waterton Lakes National Park for my annual trip there! This time I'm with my girlfriend, and we stay at the Bear Mountain Motel in the townsite. While there we explore popular early season stuff that is currently open. We go for a walk around Cameron Falls, Linnet Lake, and the Upper Waterton Lake on our first day while also eating at Zum's and Pizza of Waterton. On the second day, we do the shoreline cruise that goes into the USA, where we see the physical border cut line through the trees. When the cruise is done, we head to driftwood beach and finally see some bears to close out the trip!

Waterton Lakes National Park Alberta Canada
Hey you guys! Thanks for joining me on another journey. This week I am at Waterton Glacier International Peace Park in Alberta, Canada. Since we were heading to Glacier National Park, and after driving through the gentle prairie grasslands, we decided to spend a day checking out Waterton Lakes National Park. We were quite impressed with the town and the landscape! It is such a beautiful area with lovely people! As far as what to do in Waterton goes, there are so many activities to choose from. Definitely check out Wieners Of Waterton; they have one of the best hot dogs I have ever had in my life. And their sweet potato fries did not disappoint. Walking along the waterfront was amazing; we got to watch some windsurfers do their thing on the lake--since it was such a windy day, they got to cruise back and forth. Looked like a lot of fun. We checked out Cameron Falls at the edge of the town. The water color all around the area was a very pretty blue-green! Next we went on the Bertha Falls hike. Even though a lot of the area was ravaged by the Kenow Wildfire last fall, it was still such an awesome hike. It was so cool to see the new growth coming forth on the forest floor with the burned trees standing above. The waterfalls were lovely, and we even took a dip in the cool pools down below them. We met a couple along our hike back down checking out a big boulder speckled with fossils, so we struck up a conversation and ended up learning about sea cabbage and some of the rocks in the area. As we all know, April is fascinated with rocks, so she really enjoyed this. ;-) Next time we will definitely go on one of his Waterton Shoreline Cruises. As we walked a little bit more around the town after the hike, we ended up at Welch's Chocolates, Ice Cream & Desserts where April was compelled to try their Saskatoon berry pie. It was easily in April's top 5 of pie slices she has ever had! We drove over to get a closer look at Prince Of Wales Hotel--such a fine piece of architecture. Then we drove to Pincher Creek, Alberta to our Airbnb for the night. Karen & Lyle were incredibly friendly and generous hosts! If you are ever in the area, be sure to stay at their very nicely landscaped and comfortable home!
