Royal Ontario Golf Club
A visiting golfer will first notice that Royal Ontario Golf Club, for being such a new course, does not appear young. When construction started in 2001, the property featured many gentle hillsides and rolling terrain. What really drew in the designers were the mature trees that adorned the landscape.

From the Mississauga News:
City's innovative golf course not a big hit
November 12, 2007 08:00 AM - Where have all the golfers gone?
Not to Braeben, it appears.
In its first full year of operations in 2006, the 27-hole golf course, built on a former landfill site at 5700 Terry Fox Way in Mississauga, generated only $57,000 in net revenue — a far cry from the $300,000 total that was projected.
The highlands style course was built by the Region of Peel for $31 million. Under the terms of an agreement with the City of Mississauga, the City will manage the facility for a 99-year period, with both parties sharing in the revenue.
But, so far, returns are substantially less than expected.
There are a number of factors which have contributed to this reality, said Mitch Zamojc, Peel's commissioner of environment and transportation, in a corporate report. A number of new golf courses have been added to the GTA marketplace since Braeben opened, which has hampered the ability to attract players on a consistent basis. As well, the style of course (links style with steep inclines) is not preferred by all players. Finally, the course still has the connotation of a former landfill site.
Figures released show that last year the number of rounds of golf played were lower by approximately 9,000 originally projected by consultant Panel Kerr Forster, which was hired by the City in 2001 to do a feasibility study. The course was partially opened for play in 2005.
Despite the gloomy numbers, Zamojc sees some encouraging trends.
Tournament rounds have continually increased year over year, with a 90 per cent return rate. This speaks to a high degree of satisfaction and superior customer service, he said. Moreover, the food and beverage operation continues to grow and exceed expectations in every category. The catering side of the business is very strong and the number of events booked continues to increase.

Preparing golf courses for winter
HYDE PARK, Ohio (Scott Dimmich) -- As cold air digs into the Tri-State, the grounds crew at Hyde Park Golf and Country Club is taking the final steps to get the course ready for winter.
We're rolling greens to smooth them out and firm them up and also getting a preventative fungicide application out there to prevent disease throughout the winter, said Greg Nickerson, the Assistant Grounds Superintendent at Hyde Park Golf and Country Club
The summer and fall were quiet, but Grounds Superintendent Pat O'Brien has spent a lot of time cleaning up from last winter's cold and snow.
O'Brien said, Early on in the spring, we had some issues with the warm season grasses. We had some winterkill with the extreme temperatures, so we were playing catch up this summer on the Zoysia grass and fairways.
Nickerson and O'Brien are always at the mercy of Mother Nature, but they are still hoping she cooperates in the coming months.
I think the perfect winter is allowing the membership to get out and play, some warmer days, said O'Brien.
Nickerson said, Maybe a small snowfall, a couple of inches that sticks around for a while and helps to insulate the turf.
As crews wind down for the season, management at the Hyde Park Golf and Country Club is pleased with the quiet weather recently. Now they can hope it lasts.
Overall, the course is great. We're very happy. We're wrapping up some projects, and wrapping up the year, said Nickerson.

This is How Canadian Homes Look in Winter!
This is how a wealthy neighborhood looks like in winter. In the next 7 minutes, I’ll take you through the streets of Hampstead, an expensive suburb in the middle of Montreal City.
This video was recorded on February 7th, 2018 during heavy snowfall. However, capturing the snow on camera is a challenging and it appears like a regular winter day. The streets I'm passing by are Lyncroft, Granville, Stratford, and Thurlow.
Take a look at those huge snowbanks on people's front-yards. This is how snow removal works in Hampstead. They use tractors with snowblowers to dump the snow on people's property.
Enjoy!
ABOUT HAMPSTEAD
Hampstead is an affluent on-island suburb of Montreal, Quebec. Despite its status as an independent municipality, the town itself is engulfed by the boroughs of Montreal creating a garden city setting within an urban environment.
The Town of Hampstead was founded in 1914. It was designed to be an exclusive garden city. There are no retail shops within municipal boundaries. Houses were assigned relatively large lots to allow space for trees and shrubbery. The town's roads were designed with curves in order to slow down traffic and to create an interesting and intimate landscape. Despite its rather flat topography—much of the territory was once a golf course—the town was named after another garden city, the London suburb of Hampstead Village. Like its namesake, Hampstead is the home of many affluent citizens, and competes with a few other suburbs for first place in the rankings of highest average household incomes in Canada.
