Showdown in Vietnam, 1965/02/08 (1965)
Vietnam 1967-68
This is a transcribed 8mm movie from back in the day. It covers activities in and around AnKhe, Vietnam, where our company, 359th Transportation Company (Medium Truck Company) was located. Our job was delivering 4 different fuel types from AnKhe to Pleiku. MoGas, Avgas, Diesel, and Jet Fuel to a fuel farm in Pleiku -- about 60-80 5,000 gallon tankers each day, based on usage the previous day. Trucks left early in the morning, arrived in Pleiku, unloaded, and returned to the staging area to depart back to AnKhe by early afternoon. The maintenance group worked all night on the trucks, so they would be ready for the drivers the next morning. Periodically, there were ambushes of the convoys on their way to Pleiku or back. That was a long time ago, and the video is intended to bring back the good memories of those days. This video is based on movies taken by Lt. Welton, one of the officers in the company. Thanks to you, Burrell, we have these memories.
