Exploring hidden waterfalls - best spots of Baganga, Davao Oriental (Curtain Falls, Carolina Lake and Balite Hot Spring)
In just one day we visited 3 amazing spots in municipality of Baganga, Davao Oriental. First was Carolina Lake in Barangay Salingcomot, where I enjoyed it's surprisingly cold refreshing water. It is actually not a lake, it's more of a lagoon or tidal creek with portion of a stream affected by ocean tide. It's depth is still unmeasured. Then we went by rough road to the Curtain Falls located in Barangay Campawan, aprox. 30 min. from Baganga proper. It is the widest falls in the whole Davao Region. After I climbed on top of the falls, I saw something which seemed like another falls. It looked it's maybe one or two kilometers up-stream. So I decided to try get there. It was difficult hike, I had to cross the river few times, but I got there. I was really surprised that there is such a amazing place near Curtain Falls. I didn't see any information about that even on internet, where is lot of articles about Curtain Falls. I am really glad that I got there and was able to enjoy that beautiful spot. I saw that there is even one more falls above that one, but to get there I would have to climb very steep rock or find some other way which would probably take quite long. Since I didn't have any equipment I had to return back. But I hope I can return there with some equipment and maybe some guide because I am really curious how the 3rd falls look like. And who knows, maybe there is another one above :-). Just if you will go there, take care and don't go alone like me because the river trail is bit dangerous. After the falls we decided to go to the Balite Hot Spring in Barangay Kinablangan (aprox. 15 min. from Baganga proper, also close to St. Victor Island). It's amazing place to relax the body, but it's really, really hot so don't go there like us in afternoon of very hot day, it almost killed us :-) I must be great early in the morning or at night.
