Lanzarote, one of the Canary islands off the coast of West Africa administered by Spain, is known for its year-round warm weather, beaches and volcanic landscape. Timanfaya National Park’s rocky landscape was created by volcanic eruptions in the 1730s. Cueva de los Verdes has caverns formed by an underground river of lava. East-coast resort Puerto del Carmen is home to whitewashed villas, beaches and dive centers.
Lanzarote is a Spanish island, the easternmost of the autonomous Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. Lanzarote is located approximately 125 kilometres (78 miles) off the coast of Africa and 1,000 kilometres (621 miles) from the Iberian Peninsula. In the centre-west of the island is Timanfaya National Park, one of its main attractions. The capital is Arrecife.
Lanzarote is located 11 kilometres (7 miles) north-east of Fuerteventura and just over 1 kilometre (0.62 miles) from Graciosa. The dimensions of the island are 60 kilometres (37 miles) from north to south and 25 kilometres (16 miles) from west to east. Lanzarote has 213 kilometres (132 miles) of coastline, of which 10 kilometres (6 miles) are sand, 16.5 kilometres (10 miles) are beach, and the remainder is rocky. Lanzarote is the easternmost island of the Canary Islands and has a volcanic origin. Lanzarote was born through fiery eruptions and has solidified lava streams as well as extravagant rock formations. The island emerged about 15 million years ago as product of the Canary hotspot.
The most established festival on the island is held each year on 15 September in the village of Mancha Blanca, in honour of Our Lady of Sorrows (Virgen de los Dolores), also called the Virgin of the Volcanoes (the Patron Saint of Lanzarote). People from all over the island participate in this pilgrimage, mostly dressed in traditional costumes.
Lanzarote is divided into seven municipalities:
Arrecife, Haría, San Bartolomé, Teguise (includes Isla de La Graciosa and four smaller islets including Alegranza), Tías, Tinajo, Yaiza

Timanfaya National Park in Lanzarote (Traveline Canary Islands)
Follow us on Facebook,
One of the last and most devastating eruptions in Canarian history took place in the 18th century in the Easternmost island, Lanzarote, when Timanfaya covered a large surface of the island. Nowadays, the ground is still hot and the landscape desolated. We visit this field of volcanoes that covers the Southwestern side on dromedaries and try Diablo restaurant, one of the few that uses geothermal power in the form of a grill to cook.

WALKING IN LANZAROTE
Lanzarote is a perfect place for exploring on foot. Doubtlessly, the island offers some of the best walks in the Canary Islands.
The captivating volcanic landscape, the enthralling sea panorama and the absorbing coastline northern cliffs, the traditional villages with its endearing corners, the barren and bare mountains of the southern mountain massif or the unparalleled agricultural landscapes are some of the main attractions of Lanzarote. An island which will discretely bewitch you, as it has done so many walkers before.

[4K] Lanzarote Beaches (2019) El Golfo Lanzarote. Green Lagoon Winter Walking Tour
If you're wondering what to see in El Golfo Lanzarote in one day, join us on this virtual walking tour (with natural sight and sound). El Golfo, with its Green Lagoon and town full of restaurants and bars is one of the most beautiful tourist sites on this island in the Canaries. We take the walk from the centre to the colourful volcano and bright green lake (also known as the green lagoon, or El Lago Verde.)
El Golfo is a small town on the western side of Lanzarote, and is right on the edge of the
Timanfaya National Park (Parque Nacional de Timanfaya.) It's an easy day trip from Playa Blanca, and is a beautiful place to have lunch with the rolling ocean by your side. There is plenty of free parking at both ends of the town. The car park at the far end of town is just at the start of a coastal hiking area (Wanderweg El Golfo.)
Starting on Av. Marítima by the cacti garden, with the sounds of the wide North Atlantic waves rolling onto the beach, we explore the town of El Golfo.
There are a number of well known restaurants along the main strip / seafront: Lago Verde, La Gamba Loca, Casa Torano, Restaurante Bogavante and Restaurant Costa Azul. Further back you'll find the hotel, El Hotelito del Golfo, and more restaurants: Casa Rafa Restaurante De Mar, Restaurante La Lapa and Restaurante El Golfo right by the main car park and path to the green lagoon (El Lago Verde.)

Lanzarote 2019 - MUST SEE
So we visited Lanzarote in May 2019!
Lanzarote 2019!
If you are looking for an amazing Holiday Destination in 2019 Lanzarote is the place to go!
We only got to spend 7 days in Lanzarote but it was absolutely amazing!
Our hotel was in Puerto Del Carmen but I wouldn't recommend staying there Playa Blanca is a much better resort! Puerto Del Carmen was full of old British people and Irish Pubs.
Travelling to the Volcano in called Caldera Blanca must of been one of the best things we have done, the hike is amazing and offers a different side of Lanzarote.
The caves are defiantly worth a visit and make sure you check out the lookouts.
PLAYA PAPAGAYO!!! I and my girlfriend loved this beach. Playa Papagayo was an absolute stunner and we will defiantly go back. You can do snorkelling, sunbathe, BTW a lot of Spanish girls will be laying there naked so don't run around with your GoPro like a maniac (trust me).
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this vlog like video from Lanzarote.
