Viola Farm a 42 Acre Equestrian Estate in Canby Oregon
Viola Farm is a unique professional 42-acre Equestrian Estate. $2.1M. 23 miles south of Portland in the heart of the Equestrian district – 15 minutes to Wilsonville and Oregon City. The gatehouse entrance leads down a fence lined half mile private drive to the secluded main and guest house surrounded by 3 acres of exquisite mature trees and gardens.
THE MAIN HOUSE COMPOUND
You enter this country cottage style home under a lovely iron rose archway and are struck by the rustic cedar roof and old wisteria vines that adorn the wrap around porch. This spacious home has 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, 2 fireplaces, an entertainer’s kitchen, oversized living room with wood cove ceiling & built-in sound system, a den with custom cherry bookcases and formal dining room with gorgeous views to the pastures below.
The wrap around sandstone porch and patio also has stunning views of the property with built in Barbeque. Enjoy playing tennis on the full-sized court then go for a swim in the heated pool, lunch in the screened gazebo porch, or relax in the pool house sauna.
Set behind the pool area is a charming 2 bedroom guesthouse with wood stove, wood paneling and an attached 2 car garage with storage room and wine cellar. French doors lead to a private landscaped backyard with covered trellis and garden area with iron rose covered archways.
The 3 acres of mature, professionally designed landscaping is a gardener’s delight, including a koi pond with waterfall, outdoor iron gazebo, greenhouse, split rail fencing, fruit trees, walking paths and more; all of which is multi-zone irrigated.
The beautifully finished four car garage has a 1,254 SF unfinished studio/workroom above and a deck off the back.
THE EQUESTRIAN CENTER
Down the hill and separate from the residence lies a fully equipped equestrian center.
You pass horses grazing on a hillside pasture and a lovely pond with aerating fountain – on the left are 4 large turnout paddocks – all paddocks and pastures are natural fencings.
The centerpiece of the equestrian center is the ½ acre covered arena and barn building. Newly constructed in 2016, this batenboard pole building features 12 stalls, hot water wash rack, feed room, grooming area, tack room and shop. The 12-12x14 “Noble” stalls are tongue and groove and fully matted with sliding windows and drop down grilled stall fronts.
The 80x216 riding area has Equiloft footing with auto sprinklers, skylights, LED lighting and two viewing decks. 20’ to the beams allows for a feeling of great expanse compounded by a view to unspoiled fields and forests.
Across the center drive and alongside beautiful winding Bear Creek, you will find the mare barn. This classic barn includes 6 large 15’x15’ matted stalls, a feed room, tack room, grooming, and hot water wash rack room and 20-ton hay storage above. There are also 6 separate all-weather run-ins behind each stall. Additionally, there are 3 all-weather turn outs paddocks (24x36 approx), 3 grass pastures (2.5acres, 1 acre & ¾ acre) and many acres of wooded riding trails.
Across the largest pasture sits the “miners cabin”. It is rustic and very charming with an elevated covered porch, fire pit, wood stove, bedroom and living area with loft. It is off the grid – but a propane stove and outdoor hot shower make it comfortable glamping. This cabin was featured in “Portlandia” and vacationers from Airbnb seem to love it, giving it consistent 5* ratings!
This property literally has it all. If you are looking for an elegant country lifestyle, extraordinary horse facility all in a private natural setting, yet close to the big city, Viola Farm awaits you!
Note: furniture, fixtures, and farm equipment negotiable.

Mark Wattles Mansion: Platinum Luxury Auctions | West Linn, OR
NOT PREVIOUSLY OFFERED FOR SALE. NOW SELLING WITHOUT RESERVE! Built by Mark Wattles, the former CEO of Hollywood Video, this mansion has +/-31.8 private acres and +/-2,700 ft of frontage on the beautiful Willamette River, presenting a truly unique opportunity for waterfront living in West Linn, Oregon.
The peninsular (or “point”) lot sits at the end of a quiet road in rural-suburban West Linn, in an area populated by upscale farmhouses, riverfront estates and equestrian manors. The property’s shoreline offers portions of “sandy beach” with boat-up access, and was previously permitted by the Army Corps of Engineers for the addition of a boat dock.
The framework and exterior construction for a spectacular single-family home is currently in place, and has been maintained in exceptional condition. Built by Tom Avgerakis, one of the Pacific Northwest’s most sought-after luxury homebuilders, the structure boasts “commercial-grade” integrity, with extensive use of steel beams, concrete and treated wood. Thanks to an active building permit, the structure can be completed as designed, or modified to create a brand new dream home!
Additionally, the residential structure was permitted prior to the current land use regulations that call for additional setbacks for waterfront properties. This allows the Mark Wattles mansion to enjoy one-of-a-kind, 270-degree river views that simply cannot be reproduced. There is also an agricultural tax abatement on the property (with +5 acres of planted blueberries), creating substantial tax savings for the property owner.
The original build plans envisioned a sprawling, tri-level estate with up to 49,000 sf of gross constructed area, and features such as an indoor racquetball/squash court, indoor basketball court (which can be modified to suit a swimming pool or tennis court), an elevator serving all levels, a sprawling master suite with a 1,200-sf closet and private theater, and expansive water views from nearly every room. The automotive enthusiast will appreciate the plans for two, lower-level automotive galleries with room for up to 20 vehicles each, in addition to the 8-car garage at the main entry level.
The property is located within 10 minutes of the Oregon Golf Club, a private club ranked as the “#1 Private Course in the State” by the Portland Business Journal. And the heart of downtown Portland is within a 40-minute drive.
Oregon Hobby Farm
This is a great place to raise your family on 2 acres with privacy and space. Raise and grow your own food organically too. It is also a great place to host BBQ's and entertainment especially outdoors with a beach sand volleyball court and a 24' swimming pool with a slide. Property, home and outbuildings have been incredibly maintained and upgraded! Must see to appreciate it all. Located about 45 minutes east of the Portland Airport, live in the country but still be close to the city. For more information see Craigslist.com in Portland under Real estate for sale and search Oregon Hobby Farm.

Drone Detroit Lake Music Video
Passing through the amazing abyss that is the Lake shocked me initially, though it was the end of summer.
I'm using a DJI Phantom 2 a Zenmuse h3 2d gimbal and no FPV monitor. I later acquired a monitor for FPV and played around with a FUTUBA remote while DJI software was working out the smooth operation of the gimbal sensitivity. The videos take place on my trips in and around Portland, Corvallis, Eugene, and Roseburg, Oregon.
Detroit Lake is a reservoir impounded by the Detroit Dam on the North Santiam River 46 miles (74 km) southeast of Salem, Oregon, United States.[1][2] The lake is adjacent to Oregon Route 22 near the city of Detroit. This mesotrophic lake stores water for use by the city of Salem and other nearby communities.
Detroit Lake is situated over a historical road bed of the former Oregon Pacific Railroad. This route was built by Colonel T. Egenton Hogg as a proposed transcontinental railroad. Because of a lack of funding, the line terminated in Idanha, southeast of the lake. Idanha had rail service until the 1950s, when the track was removed for installation of the Detroit and Big Cliff reservoirs.[3] Detroit Lake was created in 1953 after the completion of the dam.[1] Part of the Willamette Valley Projects, the lake was intended primarily for flood control and power generation but has become one of the major recreation resources in western Oregon.
The reservoir has a capacity of 455,000 acre feet (561,000,000 m3) of water when full and 281,600 acre feet (347,300,000 m3) in the summer when drawn down.[1] Located in the North Santiam Canyon, the 9-mile (14 km) long lake has shoreline of 32 miles (51 km) when full.[2] One swimming opportunity is at the Mongold Day-Use Area (an Oregon State Park).[4] Detroit Lake is stocked by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife with 125,000 catchable rainbow trout along with fingerling rainbow, kokanee and chinook salmon.[5] A self-sustaining population of brown bullhead catfish resides in the lake.
Detroit Lake offers year-round fishing as long as you fish in still water and not in or near the rivers and streams. It is one of 32 lakes federally designated for recreation, managed by the United States Forest Service.[1] The lake serves many purposes including flood control, water conservation, and recreation.
There are many camping and recreation opportunities at Detroit Lake. In 2009, a new winter boat ramp was constructed,[citation needed] making it possible to launch a boat safely during the winter months when other ramps are on dry ground. Patreon Patreon.com/garthvapor
