Pan Gate - Suzhou - China
Pan Gate is a famous historical landmark in Suzhou, China. It is located on the southwest corner of the Grand Canal or encircling canal of Suzhou. Originally built during the Warring States Period in the state of Wu. Historians estimate it to be around 2,500 years old. It is now part of the Pan Gate Scenic Area, which features three famous landmarks. These are the Ruiguang Pagoda, the earliest surviving pagoda in Suzhou and built in 247 AD, the Wu Gate Bridge, the entrance to the gate at that time over the water passage and the highest bridge in Suzhou at the time, and Pan Gate.
Pan Gate is part of the ancient city wall (built in 514 BC) that surrounded and protected Suzhou. It was the only entrance through the wall to ancient Suzhou. The architecture of the wall is truly amazing. The gate is not only one, but many and includes an entire complex of both land gates and water gates. Therefore, it is also often called the Land and Water Gate.

Members and guests of the Chamber of Commerce from Morinville, Alberta enjoyed a 10-day visit to China in October 2015. This brief video shows some highlights from the very busy schedule organized by a world-class tour company: Citslinc International Inc. Participants stayed in 5-star hotels, dined on LOTS of Chinese food and saw glimpses of everyday life. Friendly and knowledgeable English speaking guides were available from dawn until dusk to provide fascinating insights for the visitors.
Some of the places you’ll see in this video are The Great Wall, a pearl factory, and Tiananmen Square in Beijing. Activities included a canal ride in Suzhou and visits to The Lingering Garden, a Buddhist Pagoda and the world famous Dragon Well tea factory. The tour wrapped up at Shanghai, a massive city that never sleeps.

Hefang Old Street is a historical cultural street area located at the foot of the scenic Wushan Hill of southern Hangzhou and quite close to the famous West Lake. It is the one and only best preserved urban area of ancient Hangzhou and is a miniature of the city's history. The legendary Bai'niangzi from an ancient Chinese story had a beautiful love affair in Hefang Street with Xu Xian.
Hangzhou was China's capital during the Southern Song Dynasty more than 800 years ago and Hefang Street having many shops, restaurants and taverns. It has passed the test of time after the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties and it is still being a prosperous marketplace today. Most of the hundred-year old businesses of Hangzhou are located here. Hefang Street had not only been the heart of old Hangzhou but also the commercial center in ancient China.
Walking along Hefang Old Street, you can enjoy the nice feeling of eating and shopping. It is otherwise known as the Snack Street for the diverse food it serves. The street clearly concentrates food from all around the country, while at some time highlighting the local flavors. This place is for street food
junkies. People eagerly dart from stall to stall, buying some eats and munching away as they seek out the next interesting thing to try.
Hefang Old Street is unique by showcasing a variety of Chinese crafts, such as land-blown sugar candy, paper-cutting and hand-made dough figurines. You can also find a large variety of local snacks such as roasted walnuts, and dragon-whisker candy. The street is full of art hawkers, candy sculptors, pillow shops, caricaturists, old-fashioned movie players, storytellers, bonsai shops, teahouses, and an array of small eateries, to make Hefang Street charmingly lively. - travelchinanow.com

Post-90's Worker Wants to Become the Nation's Leader
Follow us on TWITTER:
Like us on FACEBOOK:
Chinese media recently made interviews of workers
from various fields on their dreams.
A 23-year-old employee of wheel alignment service answered
this question with, My dream is to become the nation's leader.
The workers' dreams have intrigued the public in China;
they asked, Is it even possible for an ordinary person in China to become the nation's leader?
On May 2, the CCTV program Live News Broadcast
interviewed workers from various fields about their dreams.
Wang Yan, 25-year-old technician: I hope bosses can pay
more attention to me and approve my work quality.
After that I think I will just try my best
to get promoted step by step.
Li Ruitian, 27 years old: I hope I can get a regular
job position after working for three years.
Liu Wuhao, 23-year-old worker of wheel alignment:
I have an especially big dream, which is to become the nation's leader.
Chinese commentator Li Hainian applauded Liu Wuhao's
courage to have such a grand dream.
Li said, at the very least this shows that Liu has preserved
his child innocence with expectations toward the future.
Compared with those who only care about
eating and pooping, Liu's dream is really admirable.
Li Hainian added that national leader is also a job;
the only difference is that they belong to a special group;
but any person with integrity and ability, willing to serve
the country and its people is qualified to join this group.
Post-90's senior undergraduate Wang said, nobody
around him ever thought of becoming the nation's leader; nor do they care about China's future.
This is because in China there is no path
to pursue political goals.
At most the students wish to become a civil servant
for the known grey income.
Mr. Wang, senior undergraduate in Lianyungang, Jiangsu:
People always say how complex China's official circles are.
In fact the rule is very simple. If you can give up your dignity
to lick others' boots, you can make it.
However, you lose a lot if you really do that.
Wang joked that he would definitely be a corrupt official,
if he becomes one.
The reason is, under China's current regime,
any official has to be corrupt;
otherwise his corrupt superior will not trust him
as a member of any interest group.
The 24-year-old self-employed Wang said, now poverty,
disasters, and pollution are omnipresent in China.
All civilians are under some form of persecution.
This is a result of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) rule.
They are sinners of the history,
and will be definitely brought to justice.
Mr. Wang, self-employed, Dongguan, Guangdong Province:
This regime is a scourge to our society.
If you look at those party leaders,
none of them has a good life' end.
Very few could smoothly conclude their terms in office.
How did Liu Shaoqi die? How did Lin Biao die?
So many leaders were killed in political movements,
including Peng Dehuai.
Nobody hopes to become one of them
except diehard supporters.
Therefore it is very risky to be a leader,
and you won't be there for long anyway.
According to data cited by Wikipedia,
358,000 Chinese die annually from air pollution.
Half of China's population lives without clean water.
Over 90% of the cities suffer from serious water pollution.
More than 40% of lands have serious soil acidification,
due to excessive use of fertilizers.
In 2004, the CCP's Ministry of Environment Protection
received 600,000 complaints.
Some estimate that the economic loss from pollution
reaches up to 10% of China's GDP.
Protests on environmental issues increase 29% every year.
In the past five years, most massive protests in China
involve environmental issues.
Mr. Chai, a 26-year-old worker in Suzhou, suggest as best
solution to China's problems the lift of political parties' ban,
as well as the ban on newspapers and Internet,
and to protect the freedom of speech and the press.
In the meantime, the police and the army need to be
nationalized and become politically neutral, so they can guard the nation in the democratization process.
Mr. Chai, worker, Suzhou: This dictatorship regime
lacks a system of correcting its own mistakes.
The only thing it knows to do
is stability maintenance.
As we see, democratization is a global trend,
which has almost dominated the world.
If CCP insists to do the opposite, it will raise more conflicts,
as a result of Chinese people's thirst for democracy, and the party's dictatorship regime corruption.
Chai concludes, CCP leaders have to implement political
reforms, like former Taiwan president Chiang Ching-kuo.
Otherwise they will end the same way
as those dictators in the Middle East.

Travel Vlog: Hangzhou Day Trip
Took a trip to hangzhou early this April, with a group of friends. We decided on hangzhou to kick of our or at most my travelling goals for the year. Its about 40/45 Minutes away by bullet train depending on the amount of stops in between. I was pleasantly surprised by the city, I honestly expected it to be a tad bit boring but it had so much that we didnt even get to see much of the city. What we did see whatever was gorgeous. So nice i have to go back again just to see more. Hangzhou has a good balance of new and old and the famous West lake is a MUST!!! We walked around half of it and it was so relaxing, beautiful and romantic.

$2000 DISASTER in China
I'm sad and embarrassed by this vlog, but hope that it can help someone else not make the same mistakes that I made. Flying a drone is an enormous responsibility and it's critical to study up on the laws where you want to fly and obey all regulations, but even when you do everything right things can still go very VERY wrong. From losing all my footage from the day before to multiple expensive pieces of equipment being lost over the edge of a cliff, this day was the biggest disaster I've had while traveling. If you have trouble understanding what I'm trying to say during the melodramatic sobbing, feel free to turn on closed captioning.
