Canyon Creek Ice Cave Hike in 4K | Journey Alberta
Today I hike to the Canyon Creek Ice Cave, located near Bragg Creek. The trail starts with a 7ish kilometer hike along a road to get to the main trail, as the public can't drive on this road. From there you ascend a steep trail, and eventually have to partially scramble for 15 minutes or so to get up to the cave entrance. The cave is pretty deep, and you can explore a few hundred meters back. Make sure to bring some kind of helmet, lots of water, a headlamp, appropriate clothing/shoes as it is very clod in the cave!

Canyon Creek Ice Cave Trail
Canyon Creek Ice Cave Trail on Jan 17, 2018. A 13.2 km easy-moderate trail. Majority of the trail is on a road that is now closed to the public. Make sure to have headlamps and helmets as ice was falling frequently and rocks were heard once or twice.

CANYON CREEK ICE CAVES. APR 30 / 16.
Canyon Creek Ice Cave, also known as Bragg Creek Ice Cave or Moose Mountain Ice Cave, is a small ice cave in limestone located in Kananaskis Country near the community of Bragg Creek, Alberta, Canada.
There is a parking lot just off Highway 66, and then a 7 km hike along the old road to get to the former parking area. This trek is a challenging 6 hours hike for experienced and an 8 hours for inexperienced hikers
The cave was formed primarily by water enlarging fractures within the slightly soluble limestone, with its entrance considerably enlarged by large-scale frost wedging during freeze-thaw cycles, similar to the phreatic or vadose caves often found in Canada. Much of the cave has subsequently been sealed off by permanent ice, and during the winter months beautiful ice formations are sometimes seen near the entrance. The cave has large amounts of loose rock, and care should be taken when hiking to cave. Helmet & head lamp are a must along with extreme caution when walking because some of the surfaces inside the cave are icy slippery.
On the way back one should lower their centre of gravity by sitting down and try to slide / sitting walk using both legs & arms because it's too steep also their are lots of sharp jagged rocks & scree that can hurt if someone slips while walking.

The Grotto Canyon Ice Walk Near Banff/Canmore (4K) | Journey Alberta
I explore Grotto Canyon near Canmore with my friend Jesse in February, 2016. The ice walk was fairly easy to do, despite us not having ice cleats on our shoes. There were even some native paintings on the walls near the end of the ice walk! At the end there were 2 massive frozen waterfalls, where some people also climb up during colder months.

Bragg Creek Kananaskis country ice cave #1
The Ice Caves (Ing's Mine), Kananaskis
The ice cave starts at the Ing's Mine trail head on the Bragg Creek side of Kananaskis off Hiway 66. The parking area is 11.2 km past the info centre on your right-hand side.
The hike to the ice caves is fairly easy but somewhat boring for the most part. The hike starts with a 6km section that is literally just walking on a gravel road (this road used to be open to the public but was closed to discourage people to attempt the ice caves with young ones as it can be fairly dangerous.)
At the end of the gravel road you will find a trail marker next to a clear and easy to follow path that takes you up the side of the mountain right into the mouth of the cave. The path isn't too steep but it is made slippery with the loose shale that surrounds it.
Once at the cave you can choose to enjoy a somewhat modest view, you can explore inside the cave (with a flashlight), or you can climb the walls to a ledge at the top for a far superior view.

Searching for the Bragg Creek Sasquatch | Journey Alberta
This is a fun little project I shot last year with some friends near Elbow Falls in Kananaskis along the Canyon Creek Trail. We searched for the elusive Sasquatch in a hot spot of activity. I'm joined by Jesse, who is the most knowledgeable about Sasquatch, an Christine, who is a skeptic but wants to believe. Will the experience in the forest make her believe? This is not supposed to be taken seriously, it's a mockumentary!
For those wondering, what inspired me to make this mockumentary was multiple weird occurrences along the Canyon Creek Trail in Kananaskis that my friend Jesse and I experienced. In this video, when Jesse reacts to something in the forest and saysI think that's our cue to leave, that was a real reaction to a huge rock being thrown at us from the forest. Just some food for thought!

Welcomed by Marmots? EXPLORE ALBERTA (Moose Mountain- Ice Cave)
The ice cave is a popular hiking destination for Calgarians as this is located just 30-40 minutes west of Calgary. Before we reached the starting point of the trail, we walked about 6 km from the parking lot as the area is not open for public and is maintained by shell company. The actual trail is about 4.5km. Be prepared as you get to the mouth of the cave because its gonna be rocky and steep. The cave has 2 caverns but we didn't go to the other one as we are limited with safety gears and coming to the first cavern is already worth it.
