Downhill National Cape Town 2012.mp4
This is a edit on the Downhill National held in Cape Town, Kontermanskloof 2012. Shot it using a Sony PD150, a GoPro and some crappy olympus camera. Hopefully the next one we will be able to cover more of the track and have it in full HD.

From the website
The Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour is the largest timed cycle event in the world, attracting 35 000 participants each year to South Africa's most beautiful city, Cape Town.
The Lifecycle Expo, held at the Good Hope Centre at the foot of Table Mountain, close to the Cape Town city centre, has grown into South Africa's largest cycling, health and fitness exhibition.
It boasts just over 340 exhibitors over three floors of interactive displays, with a traffic flow ensuring maximum coverage for all exhibits. The Cape Argus Lifecycle Expo takes place over three days from 08 -- 10 March 2012. The Cycle Tour is held on Sunday 11 March 2012.
The Lifecycle Expo acts as the only registration venue for all participants of the Cycle Tour. The audience profile is therefore hugely focused and has grown to 78 000 visitors in 2011.

frenchSUNSET CAPE TOWN 2016
After a successful inaugural event in 2014, the frenchSUNSET pop-up picnic is back on Saturday, 9 April 2016 at the Glenellen Farm in Hout Bay to add some much-needed joie de vivre to Cape Town social calendar.
frenchSUNSET is not your average pop-up picnic. Think of it as an escape to sunny, sweet Paris without the hassle of boarding a plane. A true French experience with a Mzansi twist, this impromptu shindig offers you a day out in the beautiful Cape with mouth-watering delicacies, live music, comedy, poetry, cooking demos and so much more.
Upon arrival, ticket-holders each receive a small welcome basket including authentic French cheeses (specially imported for the event), a French Baguette, a bottle of one of SA’s finest wines and much more. Tickets holders are also encouraged to bring in their own picnic basket.
Aside from tucking into yummy delicacies, they will enjoy a string of amazing, yet diverse, talent throughout the day with a line-up including live performances by:
• Nationally Acclaimed Comedian Siv Ngesi
as the event’s host
• Poet Kyle Louw
• Acoustic Elements,
• upcoming french singer Savannah,
• Mapumba and band
• Soul Power Circus Band
• Dj Didier
• Dj Ozy
• and more to be confirmed
A brand new addition to this year’s line-up is a cooking demonstration led by two French chefs. The Cape Town-based Nadège Lepoittevin-Dassé (nadegecuisine.co.za) will give you tips on how to be a master in your own kitchen while she cooks up a culinary storm. Executive pastry chef to France’s dignitaries Kamel Hamzaoui heads especially to the Mother City for this occasion to demonstrate some of his sweet pastry skills.
After the sun sets, a short movie will be screened so pack in something warm for if the weather turns.
As a family-friendly event (kids younger than 15 get in for free) there is a kiddies corner with a jumping castle and plenty fun activities.
The dress theme for the event is blue, white and red (colours of France’s flag) and you are invited to dress the part – whether it’s one colour, two or even all three.

The price of progress: Riding the Silk Road before it changes forever.
While China’s observation of its neighbours is nothing new, its plans for this sleepy little undeveloped country are.
In the preceding centuries, passage through this area was a central part of the important Silk Road trading route, connecting the East and the West. The Chinese government’s 21st-century ‘Belt and Road Initiative’ is fundamentally a reinvigoration of this traditional trading route, with significant development slated for Eastern Europe, Africa, and Central Asia.
Spanning four continents and at a cost of over $1 trillion, it is the largest infrastructure project in history.
And as we’d learn, the impact on Kyrgyzstan would be much, much greater than simply a new road.

Rewind a half-dozen months.
Sitting in the office one mundane weekday, I received a strikingly similar email to the one that my mate Shannon from Serk Cycling had sent which sparked an adventure that saw us riding up to Mount Everest base camp. He’d included a link to a proposed bike-packing race in the ‘Stans, with a note along the lines of “Let’s get here before this place becomes a superhighway”. The video became my daily escape, with each viewing stirring an incredible wanderlust for this central Asian wild west.

Man falls to his death after son-in-law opens elevator doors early
Surveillance footage from a residential building in Cengong county, southwest China's Guizhou Province shows two men waiting for the elevator to arrive. The son-in-law got impatient and used a key to unlock the elevator door and look inside the shaft, but then the father-in-law walked into the shaft, apparently thinking the lift had arrived and fell to his death.
The tragic incident triggered a heated debate online about whether it was by accident or premeditated. The son-in-law seems very professional and knew where the elevator lock was. I don't know its place, said a netizen on Chinese social media platform Weibo. The son-in-law, surnamed Zhou, claims to be the community's electrician. I forgot to tell my father-in-law not to walk in and I didn’t stop him, Zhou explained. The elevator lock is used by firefighters during emergencies and should never be opened otherwise.
