Cape Le Grand National Park ( Esperance, Western Australia)
Cape Le Grand National Park -
Is a national park in Western Australia, 631 km (392 mi) south-east of Perth and 56 km (35 mi) east of Esperance. The park covers an area of 31,801 hectares (78,580 acres)
The area is an ancient landscape which has been above sea level for well over 200 million years and remained unglaciated. As a result, the area is home to many primitive relict species.
Established in 1966, the park is managed by the Department of Parks and Wildlife.
The name Le Grand is from one of the officers on L'Espérance, one of the ships in the 1792 French expedition that visited the area.
The largely granite shoreline and white sand beaches are picturesque features of the area. The park is a used for fishing, off-roading, tourism, and hiking.
Beaches within the Park include those at Lucky Bay, Rossiter Bay, Hellfire Bay, Le Grand Beach, and Thistle Cove.
The south-west section of the Park is dominated by granite rock outcrops. These form a distinctive chain of peaks including Mount Le Grand (345 m), Frenchman Peak (262 m) and Mississippi Hill (180 m). Further inland, the park comprises mostly heath-covered sandplain, interspersed with swamps and pools of fresh water.
The sandplains support dense stands of banksias. Other flora that can be found around the park include Melaleucas, Grevilleas, sheoaks, Christmas tree and grass trees.
Wildflowers bloom in spring lasting until October. Fauna that are commonly found within the park include bandicoots, pygmy honey possums, ring tailed possums, quenda and western grey kangaroos.

The Golden Outback - Esperance, Cape Le Grand & Lucky Bay: S03 Western Australia E2 Lap of Australia
Our next stop on our road trip of Australia was Lucky Bay, via Esperance, in the Cape Le Grand National Park. We stopped in for a couple of days in Esperance to fuel up and get supplies for our lap, and then continued on for 5 days in Lucky Bay Campground. It was a stunning location and we tackled our first Category 5 hike up Frenchmans Peak.

Cape Le Grand National Park Western Australia
This is one of Western Australia's best national parks all though it was for 4x4 vehicles now you can get in by a sealed road in your own street car there are still beaches to drive on for 4x4 but not has many The park has several wind swept white beaches bald hills and lots of scenery and now too many tourist. You used to be able to find a empty beach only you and the wallabies but now there are people on the remote beaches but well worth the visit
57. Lucky Bay Campground, Cape Le Grand NP, Esperance WA
Lucky Bay Campground at Cape Le Grand National Park is 65kms East of Esperance.
Such an amazing location and fantastic campground. Thanks also to our friends who were onsite managers while we were there, Denise (Denephew) and Andreas (the Greek). The managers change each month.
This is a place you must stay whenever visiting the region.
No Pets allowed, this is National Park. We left our dog MACKS at Country Lane kennels on the way to here from Esperance. Cost was $22 per day including food. They were fantastic also.
Aim for site number 12, it has outstanding views.
There is no internet coverage. Telstra is available near Frenchman Peak.
You can not book sites, only turn up and find a spot. The info desk at Esperance has a guide on vacancies.
Cost is $10 per person, there is also seniors discounts which apply.
Our stay was 8-9th December 2016

Who We Are:
Our little family is made up of Remi (Papa/Daddy), Lauren (Maman/Mummy) and Gabrielle. We are an international family and together we have 4 nationalities; Canadian, Australian, French and Bajan.
We love the outdoors, nature, camping, travel and lots of adventure! We have been traveling with Gabrielle since she was 6 weeks old when we did her first camping trip as a family.
We sold all of our belongings, gave up our jobs and headed out to explore the world as a family. Traveling full-time is not always sunshine and rainbows. It’s challenging and hard. It takes lots of organization and preparation but at the end of the day we have
memories in our heads rather than things in our pockets ... and that’s what we love!
Since having Gabrielle, we have traveled Australia, Morocco, France, Spain, Switzerland, China and Canada. In her first year of life she has traveled through 5 continents of the world and we don’t intend to stop.

Hellfire Bay is one of the most beautiful bays in the park and a great spot to enjoy a picnic or a refreshing dip in calm conditions. The bay is thought to have been named after St Elmo's fire – a bluish flame-like electrical discharge that sometimes occurs above ship's masts.

Frenchman Peak, Cape Le Grand National Park, Esperance, Western Australia (Drone Aerial Footage)
The peak’s shape was thought to resemble the hats worn by French troops in the 1800s. A large cave near the summit is thought to have formed by wave action and underwater currents during a period some 40 million years ago when sea levels were at least 300 metres above their current level and the peaks of Cape Le Grand were largely submerged. The Aboriginal name for the peak is Mandooboornup and it is an important place in local Aboriginal culture.

054 // My second day in Esperance and I moved to the Cape Le Grand National Park, about 40min East of Esperance.
This National Park would have to be one of the most beautiful I have ever been to, white sand beaches, crazy coastlines, vistas as far as the eye can see, an amazing time spent exploring the coves, caves and beautiful beaches.
