The Great South West Walk is a 250 km walking track, located in South West Victoria, Australia. The route passes through the Lower Glenelg National Park, the Cobboboonee National Park, the Discovery Bay Coastal Park and the Cape Nelson State Park. The hike is a 12 to 14 day circular hike starting and finishing in either Portland or Nelson.

ACCIONA Energía will build this wind farm under its ownership in Victoria following an award in the renewable energy tender called by the State Government of Victoria. It will be operating in 2020 and it will increase its renewable capacity in the country to 592 MW. Mortlake South will generate clean energy equivalent to the electricity consumption of almost 80,000 Australian households, avoiding the emission of over 532,000 tonnes of CO2 to the atmosphere per year from thermal power stations.

We once more paid a visit to the Victorian High Country and except the first two days we just followed our noses and discovered some lesser known “Victorian High Country 4wd secrets”
We discovered some super steep tracks, spectacular look out’s, hidden river camp spots, we explored caves with the oldest
human habitation in Victoria (21.000years), walked between giant trees, swam in the Snowy River and looked at the Washington.

Tens of Thousands March in Hong Kong, Defying Face Mask Ban 6/10/2019

HONG KONG — Defying a new ban on face masks, tens of thousands of people marched across Hong Kong on Sunday, a largely peaceful show of force against the government punctuated by the increasingly common clashes between protesters and police.
The two marches, both in the pouring rain, were the first significant public gatherings since the ban took effect early Saturday, stirring anger that the government was infringing on the civil freedoms that this semiautonomous territory has maintained since being returned to Chinese control more than two decades ago.
Outside the shuttered malls and stores of a major shopping district in downtown Hong Kong, demonstrators, many wearing blue, gray or black masks, chanted “Hong Kongers, resist!” Across the harbor, protesters also held a march that began in the Tsim Sha Tsui neighborhood of Kowloon.
By nightfall, protesters on the fringes of both marches were vandalizing subway stations and throwing bricks and firebombs, leading to standoffs with the police, who blanketed some neighborhoods with tear gas. As the prospect of pitched street battles loomed, the police force warned in an all-caps text message to residents that “unauthorized public events” would be likely to cause violence.
The large marches and the widespread defiance of the emergency proclamation were both a symbol of the staying power of the monthslong pro-democracy movement and a potential test of local officials’ resolve to stop the demonstrators’ momentum.
The persistent and increasingly violent protests have strained the local economy, putting pressure on the government to take action. They are also testing the patience of China’s Communist Party leaders, who have watched the Hong Kong protests warily for months and warned that using force against them is an option.
The city has been bracing for more unrest since the government announced on a ban on face mask, gear that has become ubiquitous in the movement. In doing so, Hong Kong’s embattled leader invoked a rarely used, colonial-era law that allows for new regulations when the territory faces “a state of serious danger.”
The announcement immediately unleashed violent protests across the city on Friday. Hong Kong was quieter on Saturday, as a shutdown of the entire subway system brought the city to a near standstill, although masked protesters openly flouted the ban at scattered gatherings.

▶︎ Lovely Campground Near Entrance to Uinta National Forest
We visited Soapstone Campground in mid-July and the weather was perfect! The sites are well spaced and large, with lots of trees to provide good shade and adequate privacy from neighbors. There are pit toilets and dumpsters spaced well throughout the campground, and the dirt road throughout is very well maintained.
Each campsite has a picnic table and a fire ring. You'll need to bring your own water, and the only opportunity to refill your jugs is either at Lost Creek campground farther up the Mirror Lake Highway (to the east), or back in town in Kamas (to the west). Bring more than you think you'll need!
During the day and ESPECIALLY in the evening, the mosquitoes are pretty intense throughout the whole summer. If you're planning to spend a lot of time outside of your tent (which you should!), bring lots of bugspray and citronella candles! We saw several people with screen tents over their picnic tables, which we thought was pretty brilliant.
There are also bears in the High Uintas and there are not bear vaults in the campsites, so plan to keep your food IN THE CAR except when you're eating it!
Overall a really excellent campground for a great little escape close to SLC.

Dozens of mayors from some of the world's largest cities gathered in Sao Paulo on Tuesday, for the fourth C-40 largest cities climate change summit.
The summit opened with the ceremonial planting of a tree in Ipirapuera Park.
The ceremony included the presence of Sao Paulo Mayor Gilberto Kassab and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
In the opening ceremony of the event, Bloomberg highlighted the importance of the summit and how the C-40 group could set the example for other cities to aspire to.

World Bank president Robert Zoellick and former U.S. President Bill Clinton are also expected to attend the summit.
The C-40 group works closely with the Clinton Climate Initiative according to their web page to help cities reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
The summits allow mayors to share information and plans to cut down those emissions and as Bloomberg also said it sets the agenda for people everywhere.
