Ice Rescue Training with Gloucester Fire Department
The Massachusetts Fire Academy did a full-day workshop about ice with firefighters from Cape Ann towns and other area towns from Haverhill and Newburyport, Sudbury, Hopkinton, Winthrop and Framingham on Tuesday afternoon at the pond at Cape Ann Sportsman's Club. Earlier in the day, firefighters learned how to tie special knots and did other work to learn more about the various kinds of ice rescue, only two of which are shown in this video; later in the afternoon they tried out their skills in the water and suited up appropriately.

Shifting Tides: Change and Survival in the Gloucester Fishing Industry
May 2012 - The fishing industry has a long history in Gloucester, Massachusetts, but recently overfishing has led to a severe decline in the local fish population. In response, government-implemented catch share regulations were put in place to stabilize the fish population, resulting in a decline in fishermen's yearly income that put approximately one quarter of Gloucester boats out of business in the last two years. This multimedia project aims to share the story of the Gloucester fishermen and their community as they struggle to continue their traditional livelihood in the face of increasing economic and environmental pressures.
Fate of the Fishing Industry Pt. 2
As part of a special Year in Review section on gloucestertimes.com, Gloucester fishermen discuss the trials and tribulations they experienced in the fishing industry in 2009. To stay up to date on the everyday struggle between Gloucester's fishermen and their federal regulators, visit gloucestertimes.com/fishing.

Bass Fishing The Berkshires Massachusetts And Housatonic River
I went up to Berkshire county Massachusetts for my friends' wedding. rented a van and turned it into a mobile fishing unit with my air mattress and kayak and gear all stored inside. I explored and found a few nice lakes but only fished two, also fished the housatonic river from shore. the crystal clear water and difference in climate compared to jersey had me thrown for a loop real quick and I def should have performed better on the first lake, I will be returning for justice. The lakes up here are primarily popular trout fisheries and majority of the lakes are natural or great ponds . I will also try my hand at lake trout fishing when i return.
