This Chinese New Year Holidays, take a day trip to Port Dickson and discover the oldest operating light house in Malaysia. Port Dickson has so much to offer and it's our old time favourite short break destination. This time around we took the kids for a hike up to Cape Rachado, Tanjung Tuan.

Jika anda pernah menelusuri laut Port Dickson pada waktu malam, tentu ada biasa nampak lambaian cahaya Cape Recardo atau Tanjung Tuan. Bangunan rumah api ini merupakan sesuatu yang begitu sinonim dengan kawasan berkenaan. Malah rumah api ini telah menyaksikan perjalanan laut yang begitu panjang dalam sejarah Malaysia dan antarabangsa.
Selat Melaka, sejak dulu hingga sekarang, tidak pernah sunyi daripada kapal. Kesibukan selat ini adalah yang kedua tersibuk di dunia selepas Selat Inggeris. Kedudukan kesibukan itu cukup untuk menunjukkan peri petingnya Tajung Tuan kepada pelaut dan dunia. Sebelum kawasan ini dinamakan sebagai Tanjung Tuan, ia terlebih dahulu memakai nama Cape Rachado. Nama itu diberikan oleh pelaut Portugis yang bermaksud Tanjung Patah. Menurut beberapa pendapat awam mengatakan, nama itu diberikan oleh Portugis disebabkan oleh kedudukan geografi tanjung berkenaan iaitu tanjung yang patah daripada tanah Melaka.

丹絨端公園簡介
丹絨端(TANJUNG TUAN/CAPE RACHADO)為距離波德申市鎮約20公里的沿海地區，離開馬六甲市約80公里。在馬六甲王朝、葡萄牙及荷蘭殖民地時期，它是馬六甲領土的一部分，如今依然歸屬馬六甲政府管轄。
丹絨端面積達149.98英畝，在1971年1月5日正式列為森林保護區，由甲州政府積極開拓基本設施，包括柏油路、森林走道、涼亭、路線圖和圖文介紹等；每天開放給公眾人士參觀，但不鼓勵驅車進入公園，以維持環境清靜和保護飛禽走獸。
遠離城市生活的塵囂，赴一場寧靜的大自然之旅，享受樹林間的蟲鳴鳥叫聲、感受登高望海的怡然意境，從古老燈塔中，想像百多年前的生活氣息......
一切，就在丹絨端開始。

來到頂端，映入眼簾的是古老的燈塔。登上石階與燈塔更貼近一點，還可實現登高眺望寬闊無垠大海的夢想，聽聽海浪交響曲，看看“猴子灣”的模樣；天氣好時，還可看到馬六甲海峽對岸的蘇門答臘島呢！
About Tanjung Duan Park
Tanjung Tuan / CAPE RACHADO is a coastal area about 20 kilometers from the town of Port Dickson and about 80 kilometers from Malacca. It was part of Malacca territory during the Malacca dynasty, Portugal, and the Dutch colonies, and it still belongs to the Malacca government.
Tanjung End covers an area of 149.98 acres. It was officially classified as a forest reserve on January 5, 1971. The state government actively developed basic facilities, including asphalt roads, forest walkways, gazebos, route maps and graphic introductions. The public visits, but driving to the park is not encouraged to keep the environment quiet and protect birds and beasts.
Away from the hustle and bustle of city life, take a peaceful journey to nature, enjoy the song of insects and birds in the woods, and feel the pleasant mood of ascending the sea. From the ancient lighthouse, imagine the breath of life more than a hundred years ago ... .

At the top, there is an ancient lighthouse in sight. Climbing the stone steps closer to the lighthouse, you can also realize your dream of ascending to overlook the vast ocean, listen to the symphony of the waves, and see the appearance of Monkey Bay; when the weather is good, you can also see Sumatra Island across the Strait of Malacca !!

The remaining corals in Cape Rachado PD (Port Dickson)
Cape Rachado a.k.a Tanjung Tuan, has remaining patches of corals left in its waters. Not many live corals left over here. The tough ones adapt and make it but weaker ones tend to die off. I have noticed many corals being exposed to air and direct sun during low tide as can be seen in the video, but I observed how they adapt by secreting a mucous lining all over their surfaces which helps retain moisture until the tide comes back. Increased pollution from human activities and sedimentation from the surrounding forest make the environment harsh for the corals to live.

Port Dickson has a hidden beach at Tanjung Tuan (far south of Port Dickson beach). Also known as Cape Rachado, the secluded beach here is unexpectedly clean and clear waters and is teaming with sea life especially corals and fish in the waters off the beach. Perfect place for a one-day trip!
波德申竟然有藏著一個秘密海邊! 此地方是Tanjung Tuan 也被稱為 Cape Rachado （波德申南部）。這海邊不止乾淨與海水清澈，也含著許多海洋生物，尤其是在海水裡的珊瑚和各種魚類! 誰會想到波德申這麼臟的海邊，往南下一些竟然藏有一個這麼漂亮的海邊，海裡又有珊瑚礁。真令人驚訝!

Tanjung Tuan or Cape Rachado (named by Portuguese, meaning Broken Cape) is at the state of Malacca, Malaysia but near to Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia.
The cape is popular for the Cape Rachado Lighthouse which is facing the Strait of Malacca. It was built between 1528 to 1529 for Portuguese to guide their ships. During 1641, Malacca had switched hands to Dutch and later on 1824 to the British.
In 1921, this area had listed as permanent forest reserve with 809,700 sqm under the name of Hutan Simpanan Cape Rachado. However, 161,900 sqm of the area is open for public use during 1969.
Since 1971 till now, the rest of 607,000 has been designated as Important Bird Area and Malaysian Nature Society is actively in promoting conservation in the area.
It is only 30 minutes hike from the Tanjung Tuan Entrance, then you can enjoy your good view and have fun at blue lagoon after finish your hiking session.
