Cape Range National Park - Exmouth, Western Australia
Cape Range National Park is situated on the Western side of Exmouth, Western Australia. It's Northern border is just 40km from Exmouth - making it a handy destination for many.
Access to Cape Range National Park is quite easy. A 4WD is not necessary.
There are 11 different camping areas to choose from but they do get super busy throughout the year - so plan and book ahead if you can! Many of these campsites have had recent upgrades and are looked after by campsite volunteer hosts.
There are a few different snorkelling spots in Cape Range but our favourites are Turquoise Bay (drift loop) and Oyster Stacks. Make sure you have the right tides to snorkel Oyster Stacks - as they are made up of 5 isolated islets that protrude from the reef. A high tide will give you the best conditions.
The fishing is supposed to be good around that area - although we couldn't catch a thing! But, do your research... there are lots of sanctuary zones that you must not fish within. You can learn about these at the Milyering Visitor Centre when you arrive.

Cape Range National Park Exmouth WA Holiday & Travel Guide
The Cape Range National Park is a stunning natural expanse of canyons, gorges, limestone ranges and caves.
You can visit the eastern or western side of the range and it is best to head to the Milyering Visitors Centre first to get some maps information about the park.
There are a number of walking trails that you can embark on to follow along these ranges and canyons. If you do go for a trek along one of their tracks it is very important that you take sufficient water because it does get hot here and some of the walks are quite steep and go for many kilometers.
You might even be lucky enough to have a few unexpected guests walking along with you at some of the walking tracks, and we had a family of emus walking along in front of us.
Yardie Creek is a popular gorge and DEC run daily gorge tours and cruises up the creek. And Mandu Mandu offers spectacular views over this dry gorge once you have made it to the top of the steep tracks up the rugged canyon walls.

Cape Range National Park - Western Australia
Cape Range National Park (Exmouth, Western Australia)
Cape Range National Park is a national park in Western Australia, 1,105 kilometres (687 mi) north of Perth.
The park occupies the western side of the North West Cape peninsula over an area of 47,655 hectares (117,760 acres). The nearest town is Exmouth. Directly off the coast is the Ningaloo Reef.
The area resulted from a gradual uplifting from the sea floor followed by fluctuating sea levels, wind and water erosion that have slowly eroded the range and plain leaving behind a range of rugged limestone, deep canyons and pristine beaches.
The Cape is the only elevated plateau composed of limestone on the North West Coast. The range has plateaus to an elevation of 314 metres (1,030 ft) and forms the backbone of the peninsula which extends are far as North West Cape.
Yardie Creek, a spectacular gorge where the water is trapped by a sandbar, is located within the park.
Over 700 caves are located within the park and it is probable that many others remain undiscovered. Over 630 species of wildflower are found within the park, that generally bloom toward the end of winter, including the Bird Flower and the Desert Sturt Pea.
The area was under pastoral lease beginning in 1876 when J Brockman acquired leases in the area covering North West Cape to run cattle. Brockman sold parts of the lease in 1888 to ornithologist Thomas Carter including Yardie Creek and Ningaloo Station. Carter was the first settler in the area and established a pastoral station in 1889[5] The area was declared a national park in 1964, the off-shore area, Ningaloo Marine Park, was declared in 1987
An abundance of flora and fauna are found within the park. Flora species include mangroves, acacia, spinifex, grevillea, verticordia, eucalyptus and minilya lily. Fauna found within the park include rock wallabies, red kangaroos, emus, euros, 100 different species of bird and 80 species of reptile.
