Capital Crescent Trail Biking Tour in 4K -- Bethesda to Georgetown in Washington D.C.
Join me for a bike riding tour of the incredible Capital Crescent Trail in Washington DC! We'll begin in downtown Bethesda and ride all the way down the beautiful waterfront in Georgetown on the Potomac River. If you ever have a chance to bike in DC I highly recommend this trail.
The Capital Crescent Trail (CCT) is a 7.04-mile (11.33 km) long, shared-use rail trail that runs from Georgetown in Washington, D.C., to Bethesda, Maryland. An extension of the trail from Bethesda to Silver Spring, along a route formerly known as the Georgetown Branch Trail is currently being constructed as part of the Purple Line light rail project.
The Capital Crescent Trail is one of the most heavily used rail trails in the United States and is used by more than 1 million walkers, joggers, bikers, skateboarders and rollerbladers each year.[1] In 2005, it was named one of the 21 great places that show how transportation can enliven a community by The Project for Public Spaces.[2]
Capital Crescent Trail
Runs along the route of the old Georgetown Branch, a B&O Railroad line completed in 1910, from Georgetown to Silver Spring, MD. The line carried coal and building supplies on a weekly train to Georgetown, until service was discontinued in 1985. The National Park Service bought the right-of-way from Georgetown to the D.C. line and Montgomery County purchased it from there through Bethesda to Silver Spring.

Koolia's stroll in Downtown Bethesda, Maryland
A visit to Maryland is not complete without a stroll down the streets of downtown Betheda. Koolia listened to a band in front of the Barns & Noble book store, gazed at people dining on the sidwalk restaurants, passed by Gifford's Ice Cream shop and the movie theater at Bethesda Row.
This is how Koolia spent her last afternoon before she left for New York.
