Attleboro Elks Celebrates Flag Day At Capron Park
On June 14th communities across the nation took a moment to celebrate our nation's Flag Day. Formally established in 1916 by President Woodrow Wilson, Flag Day was created to commemorate the adoption of the United States Flag in 1777. Several groups in the Attleboro area made an effort to honor the day with celebration and DoubleACS was there to cover the different events. To start off, we covered the annual Flag Day celebration at Capron Park where the Attleboro Elks held a brief ceremony. We spoke with Attleboro Elks Exalted Ruler Artie Evans about the event.

Zoos in New England
Animal lovers....can you name them? I dare you....a trip to two of New England's Roger Williams Park Zoos in Cranston R.I. ( Roger Williams ) and Capron Park Zoo in Attleboro, MA...both certified as top zoos meeting very strict standards with respect to all facets of animal care and community care as well. Only 200+ out of 3,000 Zoos attain this. So Enjoy God's creatures. If you are into it.....if not, move on. The music is original and protected via B.M.I. Tom Piggott...I stole nothing....not funny...I dislike people who steal music for their own profit. and dedicated to my wife of 47 years, from whom I Iearned to love these creatures. Best segments include the people who wash the elephants every day....not to clean them, but inspect, love and care for them....wow.....

Parts of the downtown area in Attleboro were closed this morning as area firefighters and police remembered the life of Norton Fire Lt. Todd Jones. Lt. Jones passed away suddenly last week after becoming sick at a campground in Middleboro. The funeral was held at Second Congregational Church at 10am. Firefighters from the area came to attend the ceremony. Donald Matchem, President of Fire and Iron MC, a firefighters motorcycle club offered some comments.
Yesterday evening the Attleboro City Council led by Transportation and Traffic Committee Chair Walter Thibodeau held a public forum to discuss the opening of Harvard Street to inbound traffic by Bishop Feehan High School. Last year the school announced that it planned to reopen a gate that had been closed for years to allow for better traffic flow on the school grounds. Residents on Harvard have objected to the opening of the gate and since that time the city has been working with the school to reach a compromise. We spoke with Councilor Thibodeau yesterday evening to get more details about the plan.
