The Captain Harlock Statue at Kokura Station 小倉駅前のキャプテンハーロック像
Returning to Kokura from the Upgarage in Fukuoka. I could have rode the train all the way to Kokura but that would have taken too long so I hopped on the Shinkansen at Hakata Station. My buddy Kiyoshi wanted to see the Captain Harlock statue up close so there you go.
The Captain Harlock Statue is located on the North entrace to Kokura Station. There are a ton of homages to Leiji Matsumoto all throughout Kokura, as he grew up there.
Also, random drift cars featured on the side of AruAru City. Totally random. I still don't understand why.

Sights and Sounds of Japan (Kokurakita-ku & Tobata-ku) 02062017
Come with me as I take a walk through Kokurakita Ward and Tobata Ward of Kitakyushu, Fukuoka. No music, no narration - only the natural sounds and sights of Japan.
I was attacked by a drunk old man at Kokura Station, Kitakyushu
I was at Kokura Station and I stopped to eat a banana real quick. Was sitting there minding my own business when out of nowhere this old drunk guy assaulted me with the English language. This is Kokura Station in Kitakyushu, right? I never expected to encounter such a fascinating creature outside of Tokyo like that.
Kitakyushu City is located in the west of Japan, and is the northernmost city of the Kyushu region. It is situated conveniently close to many rapidly developing East Asian countries. With views over the Sea of Japan and the Seto Inland Sea, and with forty percent of the city's area comprised of rich forest, it is a city blessed with an abundance of nature. Kitakyushu is a fantastic sightseeing city that welcomes over ten million visitors every year. Many of these tourists are entering via Kokura Station, which is the main station in Kitakyushu serving the Kagoshima Main Line, Sanyō Shinkansen, Nippō Main Line, Hitahikosan Line, and Kitakyushu Monorail.

We went to Family Mart and Daiso Kitakyushu
Kid #1 and I went to the nearest Family Mart (which is 20 minutes away) for some snacks. I actually just wanted to go for a walk before we headed out to the shrine because my girl was still getting ready. Kid #1 wanted to come so I was like LET'S GO! We went to the park afterwards and then the mall, which happened to be right there. Kid #1 wanted to buy some toys at Daiso so I took her there. On the way back home, we were rescued by car, lol.
My girlfriend says Kitakyushu is so inaka (the boonies) but I can't help but disagree. It is Fukuoka Prefecture's #2 city after Fukuoka City, but to me, Kitakyushu is #1. It has everything I want and need. Maybe Don Quixote could be a little bit closer. But I will take it.
Special thanks to Antropóloga En Japón for the shoutout and recommendation of my channel to her subscribers. I really appreciate it!!

You can photograph famous paintings! Kitakyushu Museum of Art / Sukiccha (2018/9/18OA)
Kitakyushu Municipal Museum of Art, nicknamed Binoculars on the hill for its appearance. The museum is itself an artwork designed by the architect Isozaki Arata. Its collection of the world’s great paintings includes works of the Impressionists as well as ukiyo-e. This summer, some of those holdings were opened to picture-taking. The pictures taken can even be posted on SNS! For our program, Anne Crescini of the USA experienced this new way to enjoy the museum: photographing famous paintings.
