Exploring an Abandoned Ontario Zoo | Urban Exploration Photography | Abandoned Zoo | Freaktography
Exploring an Abandoned Ontario Zoo | Urban Exploration Photography | Abandoned Zoo
This now abandoned zoo was founded in 1919 and was once the oldest private zoo in North America. Another interesting fact is that this zoo was also a large supplier of animals to the U.S. film industry.
Full Photo Gallery here:
Attendance at this abandoned Ontario Zoo was around 100,000 people each year, this figure dropped by more than two thirds in its final year. The Zoo officially closed late in 2016.
The land now abandoned that was once occupied by the zoo was originally a campground and park for tourists, shortly after a small petting zoo was added to the park.
Over time, the zoo aspect of the business became more prominent, and the cabins were turned into animal shelters and storage buildings.
In 2016 the zoo was consumed by controversy when the owner was filmed abusing animals, this footage was secretly recorded by PETA and released to the media which cause a fury of bad press and bad coverage which ultimately led to the closure of the zoo, just short of its 100th year of service to the community.
Now, 2 years after its closure the entire property lay in ruins. Inside, fences have broken and collapsed, the entire property is overgrown with weeds, long grass, brush and more. Just inside the park, a small section of children’s carnival rides looks like a post apocalyptic scene. Nature has taken over the old abandoned carousel, weeds have grown all over and the wooden structure is giving way to time. Two other small rides, entirely consumed by weeds and decay sit slowly settling into the ground as time and weather slowly reclaim them.
The animal enclosures all sit empty and silent, electric fencing once used to keep the animals inside have let loose and fallen, hanging and flapping in the wind.
The only wildlife I saw were dozens of squirrels running about, seeking out nuts for their winter and salmon swimming upstream for the mating season.
At the back end of the park, the auditorium where the fate of this park was sealed in 2016, back stage I found dozens of whips, a can of bear spray incase one of the carnivorous animals got unruly, chains and collars and leaches. Cages stacked atop cages and the many cruel and unusual props used to entertain 100,000 people per year. The platform that an elephant would stand on, the round hamster cages where the tigers and lions would walk endlessly to entertain the masses all in hopes they would get rewarded with a piece of meat of fish for their efforts.
It was truly a strange experience seeing the behind the scenes of an abandoned zoo, seeing the empty cages where the animals were held captive instead of being out free where they belong.

The Bandits Movie! Part 3 / That YouTub3 Family I Family Channel
Hey Adventurers!
In today's adventure we bring you Part 3 of The Bandits series! This is a fun movie to watch because we go on some pretty crazy adventures we transport to Europe where we find another awesome treasure THE MERMAID TEARS! Then we hide out in a camp but somehow the Bandits put a tracker in our gear so they found us pretty quick so we had to transport to yet another location Niagara Falls Canada! Here we found more maps and clues to the next treasure, but we had to act quickly because we were followed yet again. During our chase we found one of the Bandits vehicles so we borrowed it so we could get away. Jordan spends 24 hours alone in the forest while some of the Bandits are watching her from their secret spy cameras (tell us if you see them). Once we pick up Jordan we flee to a home out in the woods where we thought we would be safe, only to find it was a secret camp of the bandits where they stored an abandoned GOLD train, we were too late they had already moved the treasure. Thinking we were being watched we head out once again on our adventure but we cannot tell you where because we don't want the Bandits to track us yet again. Enjoy this movie as it was super fun to make, you will find yourself laughing, shouting and rooting us on as we run from the bandits though 4 countries!

The French and Indian War - Assassin's Creed: Real History
In this sixteenth episode of “Assassin’s Creed: Real History” we break down the North American theater of the Seven Years' War, also referred to as the French and Indian War, as it was covered in Assassin's Creed III and Rogue.
If you have any topic requests for a future video, in which you would like me to research the real history and compare it to the game’s representation, please leave me a comment!
Assassin's Creed Real History Playlist:
English subtitles are available for this video.
-Topic Choice-
I chose to re-explore this topic and go more in-depth with the development of the war in this latest episode of my sub-series covering the time periods from the franchise. In addition, my intention was also to highlight how much the French and Indian War influenced individuals and events within the scope of the later American Revolutionary War.
-Disclaimer-
I am an amateur historian. History is not my official field of study, but rather a passion. This series acts as my hobby and as a way to share with you the real history behind characters, groups, events and locations that are depicted in the Assassin’s Creed video game series. Although I work hard to be as detail-oriented as possible, I am clearly not without fault and therefore welcome you to let me know whether you feel I have missed anything important or have misrepresented something in my video.

SUMMARY
=======
John Brown (May 9, 1800 – December 2, 1859) was an American abolitionist who believed in and advocated armed insurrection as the only way to overthrow the institution of slavery in the United States. He first gained attention when he led small groups of volunteers during the Bleeding Kansas crisis of 1856. He was dissatisfied with the pacifism of the organized abolitionist movement: These men are all talk. What we need is action—action! In May 1856, Brown and his supporters killed five supporters of slavery in the Pottawatomie massacre, which responded to the sacking of Lawrence by pro-slavery forces. Brown then commanded anti-slavery forces at the Battle of Black Jack (June 2) and the Battle of Osawatomie (August 30, 1856).
In October 1859, Brown led a raid on the federal armory at Harpers Ferry, Virginia (today West Virginia) to start a liberation movement among the slaves there. He seized the armory, but seven people were killed, and ten or more were injured. He intended to arm slaves with weapons from the arsenal, but the attack failed. Within 36 hours, Brown's men had fled or been killed or captured by local farmers, militiamen, and US Marines led by Robert E. Lee. He was tried for treason against the Commonwealth of Virginia, the murder of five men (including 3 blacks), and inciting a slave insurrection, was found guilty on all counts, and was hanged.
Historians agree that the Harpers Ferry raid escalated tensions that led to the South's secession a year later and the American Civil War. Brown's raid captured the nation's attention; Southerners feared that it was just the first of many Northern plots to cause a slave rebellion that might endanger their lives, while Republicans dismissed the notion and claimed that they would not interfere with slavery in the South. John Brown's Body was a popular Union marching song that portrayed him as a martyr.
Brown's actions as an abolitionist and the tactics he used still make him a controversial figure today. He is both memorialized as a heroic martyr and visionary, and vilified as a madman and a terrorist. Historian James Loewen surveyed American history textbooks and noted that historians considered Brown perfectly sane until about 1890, but generally portrayed him as insane from about 1890 until 1970 when new interpretations began to gain ground.
