5. SOT (English) Ivan Caracalla, director of play: 2001 nights is the new production or the ballet for the Caracalla dance theatre. It is a big production which took two and a half years of preparation between 4 countries: Lebanon, Dubai where the opening took place last March, Iran where most of the music was prepared and Italy where the decoration and set design came from. It is a unique production and the name itself, we are familiar with the 1001 nights but we chose 2001 nights because we added a new style to the Caracalla dance theatre, a new style in the choreography, a new style in the dancing, a new style in the costume, the music, the whole production itself.

9. SOT Hoda Haddad, actress (Arabic): A very distinguished and new show. Of course Abdel Halim (referring to Abdel Halim Caracalla, creator of all Caracalla plays) is presenting a new picture through the movements, the colors and the sound, which is the style of songs and of orchestra as well as the language.

RUINS REVERBERATE TO THE SOUND OF MUSIC
The Baalbeck International Festival is renewing Lebanon's links with its past when it was the East-West crossroads of culture, free-expression and style.
A veritable 'ruin-opolis', Baalbeck is the site of the most magnificent and best preserved Roman temples in the world.
Also known as the 'city of the sun,' the ancient monuments provide the perfect acoustics and magical backdrop for the performers. Some say that the ancient gods confer divine inspiration on the musicians and artists who come to perform at the unique venue.
The Baalbeck International Festival held its first session in 1955. The Festival evolved in two main directions. It kept with Lebanon's heritage as a crossroads of civilizations and it celebrated creativity by producing original works commissioned from contemporary writers and composers.
But the Festival, situated in the heart of the strategically important Bekka Valley, was shut down by the civil war (1975-1996) in Lebanon.
But now Baalbeck is back to its best. This year the Lebanese Caracalla Dance Troupe opened the Festival with its magnificent opera show 'Alfa Laila wa Laila' ('Two Thousand and One Nights').
Through modern choreography, majestic sets, dazzling costumes, a brilliant and an original music score (with Oriental orchestration of Ravel's 'Boléro', Rimsky-Korsakov's 'Sheherazade' and a Toufic el Bacha composition), Caracalla Dance Theatre brings the sensuousness and the mystery of the Arabian tales to life in a stunning new theatrical creation, a modern-day version of the ever popular '1001 Nights.'

Inside Lebanon---Choreographer Alissar Caracalla
Alissar Caracalla is dance choreographer for the Caracalla Dance Company featuring contemporary folklore theater and dance.
This is a short documentary clip from the documentary Tomorrow We Will See which offers a window into how ten artists in Lebanon are using art as a tool to question sectarian divisions while encouraging freedom of thought.
Against the backdrop of Lebanon’s scars from wars, and socio-political scars created from sectarian divisions, Lebanese artists continue to contribute to the creative community despite the uncertainties of what tomorrow may bring.
A rock band's thought-provoking lyrics, a poet's description of time shrinking, an architect's experimental manipulation of space, a novelist's language of the female body, and a painter's reflections on his choice of colors, reveal the process by which the featured artists transform ideas, sketches, spaces into vibrant and dynamic works of art while describing what the expression ‘Bukra Minshouf’ (‘Tomorrow We Will See’) means to them.
