Idle No More January 11, 2013 Missoula, MT Caras Park, Higgins St Bridge
Idle No More is an ongoing movement originating among the First Nations of Canada and support shown in solidarity with First Nations of the United States, and continued support internationally. It has consisted of a number of political actions worldwide, inspired in part by the hunger strike of Attawapiskat Chief Theresa Spence and further coordinated via social media. A reaction to the ongoing abuses of indigenous treaty rights by the current federal government (Canadian as well as United States), the movement takes particular issue with the recent omnibus bill Bill C-45.

Missoula MT Real Estate | Neighborhoods | Downtown Missoula
Missoula MT Real Estate Neighborhoods Downtown Missoula.
Central Missoula is a vibrant area coursing with activity, civic involvement, and life.
Downtown Missoula is a bustling center of commerce and activity revered by all Missoulians, but it is also a neighborhood, a home to many residents who relish being in the middle of it all. There are grand historic homes along the east-west streets of Pine, Spruce, and Alder, which are named for native Montana tree species yet lined with other deciduous trees. There are also affordable apartments, high-end condos, and modest bungalows surrounding the downtown proper. Monday through Friday, Heart of Missoulians share their neighborhood with architects, lawyers, business professionals, Forest Service employees, retailers, and restaurateurs. On the weekends people flock from all over to shop, dine, and gather for entertainment. In the spring, summer, and fall the morning farmers’ markets turn over to festivals in Caras Park in the afternoon and evening. In the winter, downtown is still alive with holiday shopping, events, and a homegrown film festival in February. The Heart of Missoula recaptures a sense of neighborhood that pre-dates the 1940′s and 50′s Norman Rockwell vision. This dense area of homes and commerce harkens back to the old Western settlement where community was everywhere you turned and your grocer, banker, and barkeeper were also your neighbors.

A Carousel for Missoula - A Popular Place in Downtown Missoula Montana
If you will give it a home, and promise no one will ever take it apart, I will build A Carousel for Missoula. That was the promise Missoula cabinet-maker Chuck Kaparich made to the Missoula City Council in 1991.
The Carousel sits in Missoulas Caras Park along the banks of the Clark Fork River and is one of the most popular attractions for families and people of all ages.

Autumn in Missoula, Montana
A lovely drive down a tree-lined street. A common and annual treat to native Missoulians. ;) It's no wonder we've got one of the prettiest campuses in the U.S. (It starts sideways, but levels out)
Backroads of Montana: Episode 29 - Rockets, Peaks & Poets (2008)
Episode #29 of Backroads of Montana hosted by Montana TV & Radio personality, William Marcus.
We will visit the Big Sky Rocketry Association and watch their launch event near Twin Bridges and then explore a geologic curiosity near Sunburst called Jerusalem Peaks. We will also profile Dixon poet Victor Charlo. William Marcus hosts the program from the Range Rider's Museum in Miles City.
This episode lifts off at the spring launch event of the Big Sky Rocketry Association. Backroads follows one of the group’s youngest members, Keenan Cox from Helena, as he tests model rockets he built himself – or in teamwork with his father Allan.
The Backroads crew, always on the lookout for interesting geologic formations, stops at a spot only locals know about between Sweetgrass and Sunburst near the Canadian border. They call the sandstone & limestone outcroppings, shaped by centuries of Montana weather and wind, “Little Jerusalem.”
One of the more strenuous, skilled jobs of the Montana lifestyle is featured during a visit with Glen Johnshoy, a farrier from Missoula.
The program comes to a poetic end in Dixon with the story of Victor and April Charlo, a father and daughter who were brought closer together by two languages – English and Salish. William Marcus hosts the program on-location at the Range Riders Museum in Miles City.
Program Update
Bob Barthelmess, curator of the Range Rider Museum in Miles City died June 21, 2011. He and his wife retired as curators of the Range Riders Museum in April, 2011 and his daughter, Bunny Miller, took over.

Lewis is a part time resident in Hamilton, Montana and rarely makes local appearances which is why this was such a treat. Come back anytime, Huey!
