Church stretton The Long Mynd Carding Mill Valley
A walk to the reservoir in Carding Mill Valley,Shropshire hills ,UK
This walk starts from Carding Mill Valley at the heart of the Long Mynd and takes you on a gentle walk past the mill ponds and up the reservoir bank.
The reservoir
Completed in 1902, this 12-million-gallon reservoir
was built to support Church Stretton's aspirations
of growth as a fashionable spa. Thickening scrub
inside the fence shows how the Long Mynd would
soon revert to trees if ungrazed; in contrast, the
impoverished bilberry and heather outside the
fence is the result of chronic overgrazing in the
1980s and 1990s. Finding the right balance is the
only way to ensure the Long Mynd's value and
beauty for future generations.
Take a walk across the wildlife-rich heathland and enjoy the views across the Shropshire Hills, or simply play in the stream in the valley.

A walk to the waterfall at Carding Mill Valley.Shropshire hills ,UK
This walk starts at Carding Mill Valley at the heart of the Long Mynd and takes you on a gentle ascent along the stream to the four metre cascade at the picturesque Lightspout Waterfall.
Take a walk across the wildlife-rich heathland and enjoy the views across the Shropshire Hills, or simply play in the stream in the valley.
Rising above the stream, the rocky path snakes
uphill around interlocking spurs before opening
out, 500 metres on, below Lightspout Waterfall.
Return downhill by the same route.
Reverend Carr
It was here that Reverend Carr nearly plunged to
his death, lost in a snow blizzard in January 1865.
To Victorian visitors the Lightspout was a
miniature Niagara; and after prolonged.

Carding Mill Valley, Shopshire | Landscape Photography
I meet up with Paul Compton at Carding Mill Valley in this Landscape Photography video. Paul Compton and I decided on a landscape photography collaboration at Carding Mill Valley near Church Stretton, Shropshire, England as the weather was supposed to be lovely. Unfortunately everything went wrong, it rain, I got Paul's name wrong and fell over in the mud. We then had a hail and wind storm and couldn't finish the video. But it was fun.
Thank you for watching. I hope you enjoy this video.

Grey and Pied Wagtails at Carding Mill Valley, Church Stretton
Carding Mill Valley at Church Stretton, nestled in the south Shropshire hills, is an idyllic place for family picnics and children with its grassy slopes and shallow streams, its also the perfect place for both casual and experienced walkers with miles of gentle and not so gentle slopes up valleys and over the many hills. It also provides an ideal habitat with its shallow streams for the Grey Wagtail and its closely grazed, by the sheep and rabbits, grassy areas for the Pied Wagtail.
