EP32 | Found GOLD NUGGETS in SUPER HARD | Underground CARMAN'S Tunnel Gold Mine Maldon
Hi Team,
For those new to the channel - I try to upload a couple of times a week, but keep in mind some days I just can't get out detecting or maybe no targets on the day. But every Tuesday I release a premiere video - which is played for the very first time on Youtube. We get many people joining the live viewing and interacting in chat while the premiere is playing. Every Tuesday at 8:30pm Australian Eastern Time
I would also like to thank all of my wonderful subscribers in showing interest and taking time out of your lives to watch my adventures. For those not subbed please consider hitting that button for many future adventures.
In the video’s its just about capturing the events that unfold on our journey through our gold detecting, and the best part about that is we just never know what the day will bring. Certainly we get excitement just from being out there. But the joys of finding gold no matter what the size is something we just never get back and need to share these moment.

Scorpion Gold Prospecting in Maldon
Got to take the kids out to Maldon for some prospecting and got a big surprise in our hole. A scorpion. First one I've seen in this area since I was a kid. Got some ok gold as well.
I've got a bunch of other things I do such as my other specialised channel Chestnut_nag's Tools From Japan which covers Japanese tool restoration, Woodworking with Japanese Tools and tool sales. Chestnut_nag's Tools from Japan
And everything Else on my original channel Stuart Chignell
Finding Chunky Gold and my First Specimen at Maldon
Got Back from Maldon and had to wait a couple of days before I could process my dirt. Well it was well worth the wait. Got my first specimen and some really nice (but small) pickers. Now I need to get back there and do some serious digging.
Edit 23/04/2018
Got back to this spot the other day and you can see the video here. Found a bunch of gold on that bench.
I produce videos on a bunch of topics from bees to prospecting and a stack of stuff in between but many of them show off the use of traditional vintage tools. If you see a tool that you would like for your own I probably won't sell you mine but I may have another in stock or I can get one from France, Germany, Japan or wherever. I make little bit of money from selling tools but mostly I just like to share them and share how to use them.

If you like what we do maybe you could show your appreciation.
What we are about.
The problem I want to solve.
Social media stuff.
Thanks to Jayendra Birchall for the intro music.
Maldon Quartz Specimen
This video is about Maldon Quartz Specimen, to find out more on how it works in weighing the specimen got to
Ok I have done some more weighing of the specimen from this web site, if you the viewer wish to work out what the weight is fell free and post you weight in the comments please
I did get around 7 to 8 grams in gold inside the specimen not as per what the video has stated, but I will be getting someone again to weight the specimen, let me know what you get please.
The Specific Gravity Test is used to calculate the gold content of gold nuggets that contain a mixture of gold and other materials. In this example of the specific gravity test, we use gold mixed with quartz.
Nugget weighed in air weighs 96 grams
Nugget suspended in water weighs 74.5 grams
96 - 74.5 = 23.5
96 divided by 23.5 = 4.17 (the specific gravity of the specimen)
4.17 - 2.63 (the average specific gravity of quartz) = 1.54
1.54 x 23.5 = 36.19.
36.19 divided by the constant 25.97 = 1.39 ounces of contained gold
1.39 ounces x 31.103 = 43.23 Grams of contained gold.
For a more detailed description of how to set up to weigh your nugget in water click this link
The specific gravity for quartz is 2.60 - 2.65.
What is specific gravity? Specific gravity is simply the weight in grams of one cubic centimeter of a metal. Here are specific gravities and other properties of a few more metals:
Metal Symbol Specific Gravity Melting Point (ºF) Melting Point (ºC)
Copper Cu 8.96 1981 1083
Gold Au 19.32 1945 1063
Iron Fe 7.87 2802 1539
Lead Pb 11.34 621 327
Nickel Ni 8.90 2651 1455
Palladium. Pd 12.00 2831 1555
Platinum. Pt 21.45 3224 1773
Silver Ag 10.49 1761 961
Huge gold nugget found worth $896,000 my observations
I just have a few observations about this gold nugget that was recently said to have been found in Ohio and I have created a blog post to show my observations and I would love to hear your comments as the original video of the gold nugget does not allow comments.
I have created blog post for you to make your own determinations and it can be found here
