Two Arrests in 21-Year-Old
by John PlessWe are learning more about a two-year-old murder case after two men are charged early Friday morning. One of the men arrested has confessed and told investigators the motive behind the killing.When NewsChannel 9 was on the scene of the crime September 9, 2010 neighbors told us they believed illegal drugs were somehow involved. Now it appears police have confirmed those suspicions.Court records show Ronald Lee Pittman gave the confession when he was interviewed overnight. Police are charging him and Billy Bob Partin in connection with the murder and robbery at a house on Johnston Terrance in Chattanooga's Rivermont community. Tucker King told officers he woke up to the sound of gunfire that day and when he got up and looked around the house he found his room mate, 21-year-old Chance Lecroy, had died from a gun shot wound to the head. King told police he saw two armed men leave the house and get away in a pick up truck.During the nearly two years since then investigators developed leads and three witnesses. Those witnesses pointed detectives to Partin and Pittman.Police said Pittman explained how he and Partin went to the house because they knew Lecroy had dope and flat screens there and their intent was to take the dope and anything valuable.During the confrontation with the victim things went wrong according to Pittman and Lecroy was shot. Neighbors said they are relieved the case is solved but are still reluctant to say anything publicly out of concern over activity that's been going on at the Johnston Terrace house.Pittman and Partin are scheduled for a preliminary hearing in Sessions Court June 25.The house where all this happened is being remodeled and neighbors said Tucker King's father wants to put it on the market for sale once renovations are finished.
