Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle) | Places to visit in Romania
Bran, Romania. The Bran Gorge, one of the most important trans-Carpathian passages, has had a dynamic history. Its story has been characterized by two major components: the trade routes of its crossroads, and the recurring military invasions that utilized them.
A natural amphitheater, guarded from the East by the Bucegi Mountains and from the West by the Piatra Craiului Massive, the Bran Gorge offered, due to its concave space, a wide panorama both to Burzenland (Ţara Bârsei), and to the hills and valley of Moeciu.
Two Castles in One Day is a small-group full-day tour from Bucharest to Transylvania on a scenic route through the Carpathian Mountains to discover two beautiful Romanian castles (Peles Royal Castle & Bran Dracula’s Castle) and the charming city of Brasov.

This has been my first time in Romania, and it has been pretty much nice. To be honest, it hasn't been anything mind-blowing, but yes, it has been good!

Romanian Roadtrip 2016
2bros has traveled Scandinavia several years in a row, so it was time to discover another corner of Europe this time. After many discussions and having stared at colorful maps of Europe for hours and hours, we chose Romania as our destination. Not your most obvious choice perhaps, but we really wanted to see something different this time. And we did not regret it! Romania really is a fantastic country! So green, so lush, so full of fantastic people and beautiful cities. The hospitality is amazing...and so is the Pálinka!

I am Mihai and I am here to welcome you in Romania as your personal tour guide. I am eager to explore with you my beautiful country, offering you a unique travel experience.
I have been working in the tourism industry since 2011 and since then I have organized private tours in Romania.
Between 2014-2015 I have been the Dental Office Manager for a top private dental clinic in Bucharest, taking care especially of the foreign patients coming to Romania for dental treatments. Apart of their treatments, I had to make sure they have a complete pleasant trip, providing them airport transfers, suggestions for accommodation and most important, short trips from Bucharest to discover beautiful places in Romania.
I was pleasantly surprised about most of the foreign patients’ enjoyment of discovering Bucharest and Romania. After these Day Trips, they realized how many nice things Romania has to offer.
So in december 2015 I have started my own company for guided private tours in Romania.
Travelling is personal and no two travelers are alike. That is why all my tours can be customized. It is your vacation and you want to make the most of it. I consider the key to truly enjoy a tour in Romania is to interact with locals and get some authentic travel experiences. I am here to do that with you!
To me, the future of tourism is private and tailor-made tours. This way, travelers will discover desired destinations only with their loved ones and at their own pace.
I welcome you to discover the real Romania with a passionate guide!

Transylvania Travel Vlog #4 [Salt mine Praid + Fresh mountain water]
Vlog number 4 from my trip 2019. Today we headed off to see the salt mines in Praid. We booked our ticket at the office and boarded a quick 2 min bus journey which takes you to the heart of the salt mine, from there we walked down some very long steps and explored the underground salt mine. There is a lot of activities to do as well as food and drink. It is a definite visit if you are in the Transylvania area and only takes around an hour to explore the salt mines.
Situated at 10 km away from Sovata resort in the Harghita District, Praid Saline is one of the biggest salt mines from the country and even Europe. Its exploitation has been standing for income source for the inhabitants of the area for hundreds of years. Having an elliptical shape, the deposit has the diameter of 1, 2-1, 4 km and the depth of 2.700 meters. Its deposits are almost 500 years old, the saline itself represents a true treasure for the economy of Transylvania. Subterranean holes of great dimensions can be spotted, because of the massive salt exploitations. This way, a saline microclimate has slowly individualized itself, where the temperatures are relatively constant, between 14-16 degrees Celsius, the humidity is low (66-70%) and the pressure is stronger than the pressure of the surface (735-738 mm Hg).

Generations divided amidst Romania mass protests
(23 Feb 2017) Video editor Mihnea Lupan lives just around the corner from his mother, but their views on the massive anti-corruption protests shaking Romania are miles apart.
Since late January, when tens of thousands first took to the streets to protest a government decree that decriminalised some official misconduct, Lupan and his mother, Valentina, have been at loggerheads.
Fights over politics dominate their visits instead of home-cooked meals and pleasantries.
Valentina Lupan, a retired architect, occasionally shouts at her 34-year-old son during an emotionally charged two-way that started within minutes of his entering the apartment where his parents and aunt live.
The demonstrations, the largest in Romania since a 1989 revolution led to the execution of the communist leader, have been a nightly occurrence for three consecutive weeks now.
During that time, they have exposed a sharp generational divide between citizens who grew up, built careers and started families under communism and those who came of age a decade after the country moved to a free market economy and a multiparty system.
Most of the protesters are on the younger side.
Through travel, jobs at foreign companies and the internet, they feel closer to the West than their parents. They speak languages besides Romanian, and some have worked in countries with higher wages and less overt corruption.
Valentina, 65, is sceptical about the motives of the anti-government protesters, including her son.
She thinks they were lured by financial incentives or told to demonstrate by the multinational companies they work for, echoing the news channels she watches.
As a young architect, she crafted wooden and metal doors for the giant palace of President Nicolae Ceausescu, the communist leader executed in 1989, and insists she has never paid a bribe to secure a contract.
She says byzantine legislation, not outright deceit, is to blame for official corruption.
Why weren't they out in the streets to protest against illegal logging on a large scale?, she asks her son during the heated exchange that had her worrying about her blood pressure. So they didn't protest against (that) or the stray dogs' issue?
In the quiet of his apartment, Lupan attributed his mother's frustrations to a loss of earnings in recent years, adding that the news channels she watches have indoctrinated her.
Despite their differences, Lupan remains convinced that Romania needs to make steady progress towards reform.

Cu Mocanita in Maramures || Incredible Romania [4K]
Built in 1932, the Vaser Valley railway is still working, primarily aimed as logging wood from the forest for the wood processing factories from Vişeu de Sus. CFF Vişeu de Sus is today the last remaining functional forestry train in Europe still used for wood transportation.
Since the year 2000, there are regular steam trains also used for tourist purpose. The tourist season starts in spring and ends in late autumn. Departure time is 9:00 am and the train arrives back to Viseu de Sus at around 3:00 pm. The train goes up to the Paltin station (21.6 km), about two hours away from the town of Vişeu de Sus, where a nice halting place has been arranged.
At Paltin, tourists are invited to discover the wild, unaltered nature of the valley, to make a picnic and admire the view from the rock platform located nearby. For the picnic, there is a catering service with a variety of food supply.
For those who are looking for a special out of season adventure, CFF Viseu de Sus can arrange a charter train, that also provides (at request) special catering service.
Starting with 2011, CFF Viseu de Sus offers you accommodation right near the station, in the Carpatia-Express train hotel, with a capacity of 40 beds and a restaurant for 40 persons.
