Quarry Lane Nature Reserve, Mansfield - Aerial Footage
Set in a narrow wooded valley, the Quarry Lane LNR is often referred to as a hidden gem with its range of walkways alongside the River Maun and recognised as a haven for wildlife despite being surprisingly close to the centre of Mansfield.
Many local residents appreciate the walk through the site on their way into town, use the area to exercise their dogs or visit the site for educational nature activities such as pond dipping, river work and wildflower studies.
As the River Maun meanders through the reserve, it falls over a number of small ruffles, eventually entering Field Mill Pond, which attracts a wealth of wildlife including kingfishers, herons and water voles.
The grassland creates small open wildflower meadow areas between the trees and scrub which attracts numerous butterflies and other invertebrates.
Along the southern edge of the site is a limestone exposure, a pond dipping scrape and Drury's dam viaduct, the latter being a Grade II listed structure. Great achievement in July 2015 - the MCG was awarded a Green Flag Community Award for the conservation work on the site.

Pleasley Hill , near Mansfield, Notts
This row of terrace houses has been a feature of Pleasley for many, many years. Now, as residents leave, they are boarded up and no doubt they will be demolished in due course, probably to make way for the linking stretch of road to be made into a dual carriageway. This will change the looks of a scene which has been there for over 100 years. Such is progress.

Fishing for GIANT CATFISH - New UK PB!
I head off Fishing with my Dad to try and catch the Giant Catfish that lurk in a tiny pond here in the UK. The Wels catfish can grow to monster sizes in parts of Europe. The River Monsters are usually found on the famous river Ebro in Spain as well as various rivers in Italy and other countries in Europe. But in the UK, they are found in various still water ponds and lakes. Pond Fishing is really popular in the UK, so I head out with Dad for a day fishing. We show you the rigs and gear that we use to catch catfish. They can be caught on both bait and lures. Learning how to catch catfish is not complicated. Dad even uses some Bushcraft to put a rig together! Hope you guys enjoy the vid and thanks for joining us on the adventure! - Mike

Jacksons 5th Drone flight in Mansfield
5th flight with the DJI Mavic Pro, testing active track with the youngest on Jackson Field, Mansfield.
On a very quiet and fairly bright day I decided to test out the drone on Jacksons park in Mansfield. I took the drone out to the middle of the park to ensure I was well away from houses and put the drone up to give it a go. The youngest was loving having the drone follow him around.
The DJI Mavic Pro did a great job keeping him in view and the sturdiness of the unit filled me with confidence. This is a unit built for stability and this is one of the main reasons I purchased it.
On this particular day we just used standard active track but hopefully we will have time to test more modes in the coming days and months.
