Carrick River Walk
A walk along the Glen River in Carrick County Donegal Ireland. At the foothills of Sliabh Liag, one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe.
Carrick County Donegal
The village of Carrick, located in south west Donegal is an ideal base from which to explore the impressive Slieve League marine cliffs and a centre for Donegal handcrafts and traditional music.
The archaeology of the Glencolmcille area (6 miles away) is world renowned with the highest density of monuments and standing stones in Western Europe - Glencolmcille also provides a folk village museum and a newly opened golf course beside splendid rugged coastal scenery.
Mountain walks - for the visitor who seeks their pleasure in outdoor pursuits there is no better place in Ireland than the coastal walks of Sliabh League. Diving - the pollution free waters along the south west coast make it an ideal area for sub aqua diving. Mailnbeg and Teelin are the most main bases, with compressor facilities available at the Malinmore Adventure Centre. Windsurfing: three excellent beaches together with many lakes make Carrick a natural centre for such activity. Hang gliding: the hang gliding association of Ireland has indicated that nearby Glencolmcille is a most suitable part of north-west Ireland for practice and training.
