Police Escorting Dutch Royal Couple, Auckland NZ, 4 Nov 06
Police escort Prince Willem-Alexander of Orange and Princess Maxima of the Netherlands during their royal visit to New Zealand (31 October - 4 November, 2006).
While cycling through Point Chev, I was intrigued when a police motorcycle showed up and parked in the middle of the intersection, stopping traffic. I got my camera rolling, and soon more bikes arrived, followed by a procession of cop cars and government limousines. I hadn't heard anything about a visiting dignitary and didn't have a clue who it was. When I took a closer look at the footage later, I saw the flag flying on one of the limos, a blue cross on an orange background. I hadn't seen that one before, but the Orange strongly suggested the Netherlands. From there, it didn't take long to figure out it was The Netherlands Royal Standard...
