Step back in time at the Carroll County Farm Museum and learn how families lived and worked in the 18th and 19th centuries. Guided tours of the Farmhouse are offered hourly from April through December. We also offer self-guided tours of our many buildings and exhibits. Artisans demonstrate their crafts at most of our special events. Learn new skills by enrolling in one of our Traditional Arts classes. While away a few hours at our afternoon teas, scheduled throughout the year. Or just stop by and enjoy the beauty of this 140-acre farm right in the heart of Westminster.
The children will love visiting with our farm animals including goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, peacocks, ducks and more. Let them run off some energy at our playground or hike our Nature Trail. Bring a picnic lunch or consider renting one of our pavilions for larger family gatherings. The Museum is the perfect site for a wedding or corporate event. THE CEMETERY CHRONICLES: Carroll County Almshouse Potter's Field Cemetery.

The Carroll County Almshouse Potter's Field Cemetery is located near the Carroll County Agricultural Center across from the Carroll County General Hospital in Westminster, Maryland. This was a grave for Carroll County's poor that lived and worked at the Almshouse.
Many marked graves start in the early 1910s and date up to the 1930s. The cemetery sits near the baseball park at the complex. There are many unmarked graves, either headstones were not provided, stolen, or vandalized beyond repair.
The site is maintained by the Carroll County Farm Museum.

100 years in farm market, a three generation of Baugher's family in Carroll County Maryland
Baltimore, Md., June 26, 2016 – Baugher's Orchard has been a working fruit and vegetable farm since 1904 in Carrol County, Maryland. The roots of the Baugher family began in Germany in 1725 with the birth of Johannes Georgius Bager. He came to the United States in 1752, changed his name to Baugher. Baugher's Orchard and Farm Market has over 600 acres of fruits, vegetables, and activities! People come over there to pick up Strawberries, Cherries, Peaches, Plums, and Apples & More!
“I still work and pay the bills and my children are very involved, we could not do without a family a farm situation and business means a lot to the family,” said Margery Baugher who is an owner of Baugher’s Orchard.
Initially, they started out, as a 60-acre piece of land, has become a 600-acre operation, and one of the largest orchards in Maryland. Now a bustling business enterprise in two locations in Westminster, Maryland, Baughers is still family-owned and operated.
On 1983 has marked the first foray into agro-tourism with Pick Your Own strawberries. From that time to today, Baugher’s has continued to grow, in retail and wholesale sales of fresh fruit and in agri-tourism offerings. The centennial celebration of Baugher’s was in 2004, and they continue to make history as their farm and offerings grow.
“ By just meeting these people it makes me feel happy, said, Sendra Pablso, In charge Pick your own food program, Come to Westminster and visit Baugher's to pick up Strawberries, Cherries for an exciting day in the country with home cooked food and fun activities for everyone in your family.
Every Sunday, especially in summer time around two thousand visitors visits the farm to pick fruits and hanging with family. If we do not have farming people would not have things to eat, said, Jessica who was there to pick Strawberries.
Customers and Visitors will be taken to the fields in their tractor-driven wagons and returned to the Farm Market where customers will find pies and pastries, homemade fudge tasty ice cream, interesting merchandise, and many other fruit and vegetables.
They are facing challenges to survive only in the organic products. Now they are focusing on new technology farming but still it is a great place to visit Family owned farming where Baugher family have been keeping doing science 100 years.
