Casa Cenote - Tulum, Mexico - Drone Video
Casa Cenote, what a place!!!
A cenote is a natural pit, or sinkhole, resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater underneath. Especially associated with the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico, cenotes were sometimes used by the ancient Maya for sacrificial offerings. The term derives from a word used by the low-land Yucatec Maya — ts'onot — to refer to any location with accessible groundwater.
This is one of the most interesting diving spots in the region, Casa Cenote (Cenote Manatee) is located in the middle of mangrove, very close to the ocean.
This is one of the Aktum system output of freshwater to the Caribbean sea. With open areas, this cenote is perfect for novice divers and offers lots of wildlife from the flooded land and the sea, it also has a cenote Halocline and beautiful lighting effects.
The diver can navigate through passages and fissures in the limestone. For experienced divers, the place offers a stimulating alternative and with unexpected surprises.
It is part of the largest underground cave in the world, Nohoch Na Chich.

Casa Cenote and The Best Tulum Cenotes
Casa Cenote is an all time favourite and one of the most unique cenotes in the area. Tulum cenotes are abundant but many are difficult to get to. You have to take a taxi up the road away from Tulum leading you to Chichen Itza and there are many Tulum Cenotes along that road. If you are looking for a Tulum Cenote closer, and a very special and unique one, thats Casa Cenote! Casa Cenote is about 15 minute drive north of Tulum, which you can take the collectivo to access, and you get out at, obviously, the sign for Casa Cenote, or another notable landmark is the big Pavo Real sign off the highway. Casa Cenote is then a decent 2 kilometer walk down away from the highway and then north but its a nice easy flat walk and Casa Cenote opens up for you on your left. A big pool at the base, Casa Cenote then meanders up about 150 meters or so, bending through the mangrove. It used to be called Cenote Manati because of, as you can imagine, the manati's in the area, but now it is more commonly know as simply Casa Cenote. There is also a hotel and restaurant right there known as Casa Cenote as well. Across the access road from this gorgeous cenote, is the beach. You can actually see the beach from the cenote. As far as Tulum cenotes go, this has to be my favourite! I highly recommend visiting as many Tulum Cenotes as you can, and Casa Cenote should be at the top of that list!
This video is about the best Tulum Cenotes and especially Casa Cenote. Tulum cenotes...casa cenote.
Casa Cenote Tulum Mexico with a GoPro HERO3 Black Edition
Trying out a new GoPro HERO3 Black Edition in Casa Cenote near Tulum Mexico. Casa Cenote is right next to the ocean, so fresh and salt water mix more than usual and there is a bit more marine life than usually found in a cenote. I had some technical difficulties that I later discovered was due to a corrupt memory card, so this was definitely a test dive with the camera.

Spectacular Cenote drone footage from Cenote Manati_Casa Cenote Tulum Mexico. Cenotes are beautiful deep natural wells or sinkholes formed by the collapse of surface limestone that exposes ground water underneath. Often they have spectacularly cool clear water. In the case of Cenote Manati this one flows underneath a small access road and restaurant and surfaces through an cave opening in the ocean shallows near shore.

My new favorite swimming hole. From the beautiful rays of sunlight, to the surreal colors, the mix of fresh and salt water fish, the grottos and the misty Halocline on the bottom...it truly is an amazing dive.
Cuánto cuesta entrar a Casa Cenote?

As a double above knee amputee, diving is almost the perfect sport. I've been diving for a long time, since the mid eighties actually, and the last 4 years as an amputee, and I have to say cenote diving was an absolute highlight for me. It challenges your buoyancy skills in a way no other type of diving does. Can't wait to do it again!

SECRET ABANDONED CENOTE & RESORT | XPU HA BEACH RIVIERA MAYA MEXICO
Along the coast of Riviera Maya in Mexico, there are hundreds of resorts. Xpu ha beach club (or Xpu-Há) is a very popular off the beaten path spot for tourists to go to get away from the craziness of Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum... because of this, the place has become a bit of a tourist trap itself.
In 2005, Hurricane Wilma, a category 5 monster destroyed much of Caribbean coast. 12 years later, you can still see the remains of resorts that were not rebuilt. Xpu-Ha Palace was one of those places.
Some interesting features of this particular Riviera Maya resort was it's natural coral lagoon, which connected underground to a beautiful cenote which sat in the middle of the resort. This made it easily one of the most beautiful places to stay in Mexico, especially on this coast.
Now, there is a surprising amount of it still standing. Much of the wooden structures have fallen, but the shell of the resort still remains, and is just a 20 minute walk down the beach from Xpu-Ha Beach.
