The William Cole Vineyards is a family-owned and managed winery started by Bill Cole. It has 129 hectares of vineyards in Chile's cool climate Casablanca Valley, located just 45 kilometers from the Pacific.
Casablanca, meaning white house, is a Chilean city and commune located in Valparaíso Province, Valparaíso Region. The city of Casablanca is located on Route 68 between Santiago and the city of Valparaíso, at about 30 minutes southeast of Valparaíso and 50 minutes northwest of Santiago traveling by car. It is a region known for white wine grapes, especially Sauvignon blanc and Chardonnay. The commune of Casablanca spans an area of 952.5 km².

La Bicicleta Verde ( have mapped out an awe-inspiring route through the valley, offering amazing vistas of the vineyards back-dropped with the majestic Andes. Youll be able to ride through the vineyards themselves, giving you a chance to inspect the vines and grapes up close.

We start in the morning biking through three vineyards and the small pueblos which the vineyards support. The three vineyards vary not only in the wine they produce but also in the background of their origin. We visit a rustic family-owned estate producing a wide variety of wine including Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carmenere (thought to be extinct until its rediscovery in Chile in 1995); a contemporary vineyard, started by a wealthy Santiago family to produce high quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Syrah and Cot (Chiles version of the famous Argentine Malbec); and finally a third-generation Italian owned vineyard producing only 100% organic Cabernet Sauvignon.

ABOUT MAIPO VALLEY
Maipo Valley is the closest Chilean wine region to Santiago, the capital city of Chile. It extends eastwards from the city to the Andes and westward to the coast, stretching south toward the towns and subzones of Padre Hurtado, Peñaflor, Talagante, Isla de Maipo and Melipilla.

The valley includes over 7,302 acres of vineyards, more than half of which are dedicated to producing Cabernet Sauvignon or Cabernet blends. It is a historic wine-producing region and the birthplace of the Chilean wine industry, with vines growing there for the past 150 years.

The Maipo Valley can be divided in three sub-regions: Alto Maipo, Central Maipo, and Pacific Maipo.

Something you simply must do in Chile is a wine tour. We had an amazing day out during our 3 day trip to the wine regions.

The Colchagua Valley is in the heart of Chile wine regions. As part of our Chile series we booked a 1 day wine tour through ColchaguaWineTours.com
Join us as we visit 3 wineries, MontGras, Lapostolle and Ventisquero and had lunch at the Pilar Rodriguez Food & Wine Studio.

We toured the vines and learnt about the different wine types, grapes and how important the skin is! Each vineyard offered a wine tasting and some, a pairing with food.

Lunch was the highlight as Pilar Rodrieguz is a renowned chef in the region and she served us personally.

LARGEST VINEYARD IN SOUTH AMERICA - Concha Y Toro, Chile
