DWK F&F Musik: YT-CC.-T.:PuertoRicoLlama ANMERKUNGEN

British Consul-General's grave found in Málaga
The collapse of a path in the English cemetery in Málaga uncovered a crypt in which William Mark, the first British Consul-General to Málaga, and his family are buried. They were evangelical Christians who died in the very Catholic Spain of the mid-nineteenth century. Mark died in 1849, but before the English cemetery was built, evangelicals who died in the Málaga region ended up buried vertically, outside the city walls right next to the shore, with the danger that in time the waves would expose the remains to view. Even this, though, was a special 'privilege' granted by the Spanish king!

STORYLINE:
Mexico prepared to mark one of its most colourful traditions on Monday, setting up decorative alters and offerings through the streets and plazas of its cities.
The Dia de Muertos or 'Day of the Dead', beginning on November 1st - All Saints Day - is a two-day celebration in honour of the dead, during which families gather in cemeteries to remember of their deceased relatives.
From mid-October until the first week of November, markets and shops all over Mexico sell special items for the Dia de Muertos.
These include skeletons, elaborate wreaths and crosses, candles and fresh seasonal flowers use to decorate graves and to provide offerings to the dead.
It's believed the spirits of the dead will pay a holiday visit home and should be provided with adequate sustenance for the journey.
While death is a topic avoided in many countries, the remembrance of deceased ancestors and loved ones is traditional in Mexico, and is rooted in its Aztec culture.

Climbing the Rock of Gibraltar
Our first adventure in van life was climbing the #RockofGibraltar!!
Lou and I have been looking at the Rock of #Gibraltar for over 5 months while working on Ody in the small town of Casares in southern Spain. Just last week we finally had the opportunity to go there in person, climb to the top, meet all the #monkeys, and enjoy the hard work we put in to make our van life a dream a reality. I can't put into words what it felt like to go on our first hike from the van. One of our biggest goals in the van was to spend more time in nature, and this hike made me feel like we had finally made that happen : )
Love from Faro,
Dana (& Lou)
