I took the Cascade Brewery Tour located in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia and had a taste session of a stout, lager, pale ale and cider. Amazing people at Cascade and the tour was amazing! So weird to be in a fully operational silo too! (normally abandoned for me).

I enjoyed our Tasmania trip more than I thought I would, it’s a fabulous place to explore. We spent 5 nights in historic Battery Point & it was a perfect location to enjoy all that Hobart town has to offer. So many highlights- Tessellated Pavement, Tasman Arch, Devils Kitchen, Port Arthur, Tassie Devils & Pademelons at Unzoo, Mona, Mount Wellington, Cascade Brewery Tour, Female Factory, Tasmania Golf Club, Salamanca Markets, Peppermint Bay Cruise, Wrest Point Casino, Richmond Bridge, plus House Of Fudge, The Wicked Cheese Company, Whiskey from Old Kempton Distillery Tasmania, Smitten Merino, The Brick Factory mulled cider, Vietnamese Pho, Da Angelo Ristorante, Mawsons Huts, Preachers Bar, Abel Tasman & much more. My dad & I had a great time in Tassie, it’s a terrific place to go for a holiday.

Cascade Brewery - it's a lie! Forgotten Tasmania Episode 18
The traditional story of the Cascade Brewery has been blown away with research by Greg Jefferys. It turns out that Peter DeGraves was a bit of a con man and re-wrote history. It's a ripper of a story and this video is my summary of Greg's excellent paper;
The brewery is currently owned by a public company and has no relationship to Peter DeGraves criminal past. It's also a great to take the tour around the factory.

Battery Point & Sandy Bay, Hobart
Battery Point is possibly my favourite suburb in any capital city in Australia. Just south of Hobart CBD, it's like a well-preserved Georgian village, on a hill overlooking the Derwent estuary. The Georgian, Victorian and later houses and their gardens are all well-preserved, and there are quaint shops and pubs here and there. Sandy Bay is similar.
