Cashmere is a highly desired suburb of Christchurch City, resting on the northern side of the Port Hills. Popular attractions in Cashmere include the Sign of the Takahe and Victoria Park
Cashmere is situated on the north side of the Port Hills, immediately above the southern terminus of Christchurch’s main street, Colombo Street. Five kilometres south of the city centre, a commanding view of the city can be had from Victoria Park, at the upper end of the suburb. Above Victoria Park is Sugarloaf, a 496 m peak, which is the location of the 119 m transmission tower for local radio and TV stations.

New Zealand Day 3: Scenic Route, Christchurch, Lake Tekapo, Mt John, Lake Pukaki, Mt Cook
Travel VLOG
Day 3 of our New Zealand trip which was a very scenic route.
We started the day with breakfast at our hotel, Hotel Montreal Christchurch. The weather was quite cold. Then we did a tour of the city of Christchurch before going up on the Cashmere Hills. There we visited the Sign of the Takahe and walked to the Cashmere Hill Lookout. The view was breathtaking.
Then we started our scenic route with a brief stop at the Mackenzie viewing point. We approached Lake Tekapo but had lunch first at Mackenzies Cafe Bar and Grill. After lunch we went up to Mt John Observatory where we got the fantastic view of Lake Tekapo. Then we came down again to the Church of Good Shepherd and walked along Lake Tekapo.
We continued our journey to Lake Pukaki. We were lucky to be able to reach there before sunset, it was so beautiful.
Then we reached our hotel, the Hermitage Hotel Mt Cook which we would spent 2 nights there.
