Anzali Lagoon (Bandare-Anzali, Iran)
Anzali Lagoon (Persian: تالاب انزلی) (also Anzali Mordab, Anzali Bay, Pahlavi Mordab, Pahlavi Bay or Anzali Liman) is a coastal liman, or lagoon, in the Caspian Sea near Bandar-e Anzali, in the northern Iranian province of Gilan. The lagoon divides Bandar-e Anzali into two parts, and is home to both the Selke Wildlife Refuge and the Siahkesheem Marsh.
Although the lagoon suffers from pollution,it is known as a good place for bird watching. The lagoon's water ranges from fresh near the tributary streams to brackish near the mouth into the harbor and the sea. Studies indicate that in the 19th and early 20th Centuries that the lagoon had a much higher salinity.
The lagoon has decreased in size since the 1930s to less than a quarter of its former extent. However, in the last ten years (As of 2007) water salinity has increased both by the rise of the level of the Caspian Sea which has caused greater interchange of waters, and due to greater salt transport in incoming fresh water due to increased upstream irrigation

A new domestically built missile-launching warship has formally joined Iran’s naval fleet in the Caspian Sea, with the Iranian defense chief describing the vessel as the “symbol of peace at sea.”
The Separ (Shield سپر) warship was unveiled and delivered to the naval forces during a ceremony held on Tuesday in the northern Iranian port city of Bandar-e Anzali بندر انزلي, with Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami سرتيپ امير حاتمي and Navy Commander Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi دريابان حسين خانزادي in attendance.
The vessel is 47 meters long (154 feet) and 3.9 meters high (12 feet), and has a cruising speed of 35 knots (over 64 kilometers per hour).
The warship is equipped with different kinds of advanced weapons, including surface-to-surface missile systems, 76 mm and 40 mm artillery and an Iran made fire control radar capable of detecting warships and cruise missiles.
Speaking at the event, Hatami said the “all-Iranian” warship has successfully passed all testing stages, adding that the achievement is Iran’s “symbol of peace at sea.”
He further conveyed the Islamic Republic’s “message of peace and friendship” to all regional states, expressing hope that the country’s defense progress could help strengthen peace in the region.
Hatami also expressed Iran’s readiness to expand its defense cooperation with its neighbors, expressing hope that such joint efforts will protect the security of the region and its nations.

LEAD IN
Every summer, the beautiful coastal towns of the Caspian Sea receive hundreds of thousands of Iranians who would like to get away from it all and enjoy their holidays.
The hot and sunny days of summer tempt holiday makers to relax on sandy beaches and swim in the sea.
But Iranian beaches are quite different from those many tourists usually see at other beach resorts.
STORYLINE
There are no women in bikinis and bathing suits to be found here, and sunbathing is the preserve of men only.
In the Islamic Republic of Iran, where women are only permitted to reveal their face and hands, the authorities have separated some areas of beaches from other parts with tarpaulins for women to swim and sunbathe out of men's sight.
Nevertheless, many women and girls prefer to swim close to their family, and taking care of Islamic dress-code does not seem much of a difficulty to them.
Khalili, a holidaymaker who will only go into the water with her clothes on, says being with her husband and child is the real joy of holidaying to her, even though she has to wear a scarf and long loose clothes.

#MiladTower:
Milad Tower (Persian: برج میلاد Borj e Milād), also known as the Tehran Tower (برج تهران Borj e Tehrān), is a multi-purpose tower in Tehran, Iran. It is the sixth-tallest tower and the 24th-tallest freestanding structure in the world.
It is located between Qarb Town and the district of #Gisha, standing at 435 meters from the base to the tip of the antenna. The head consists of a large pod with 12 floors, the roof of which is at 315 meters.
The tower is a part of the International Trade and Convention Center of Tehran, which also includes a five-star hotel, a convention center, a world trade center and an IT park.
#ChehelSotoun:
Chehel Sotoun (also Chel Sutun or Chehel Sotoon; Persian: چهل ستون, literally: “Forty Columns”) is a pavilion in the middle of a park at the far end of a long pool, in Isfahan, Iran, built by Shah Abbas II to be used for his entertainment and receptions. In this palace, Shah Abbas II and his successors would receive dignitaries and ambassadors, either on the terrace or in one of the stately reception halls.
The name, meaning Forty Columns in Persian, was inspired by the twenty slender wooden columns supporting the entrance pavilion, which, when reflected in the waters of the fountain, are said to appear to be forty.
As with Ali Qapu, the palace contains many frescoes and paintings on ceramic. Many of the ceramic panels have been dispersed and are now in the possession of major museums in the west. They depict specific historical scenes such as the infamous Battle of Chaldiran against the Ottoman Sultan Selim I, the reception of an Uzbek King in 1646, when the palace had just been completed; the welcome extended to the Mughal Emperor, Humayun who took refuge in Iran in 1544; the battle of Taher-Abad in 1510 where the Safavid Shah Ismail I vanquished and killed the Uzbek King. A more recent painting depicts Nader Shah's victory against the Indian Army at Karnal in 1739. There are also less historical, but even more aesthetic compositions in the traditional miniature style which celebrate the joy of life and love.
The Chehel Sotoun Palace is among the 9 Iranian Gardens which are collectively registered as one of the Iran’s 23 registered World Heritage Sites under the name of the Persian Garden.
