A Day Trip to San Pancho, and a Vists With Cassandra Shaw of Cassandra Shaw Jewelry
In this episode we take A Day Trip to San Pancho, a Beach Community North of Puerto Vallarta. Then an interview with Cassandra Shaw, owner of Cassandra Shaw Jewelry in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
A couple of weeks back, I got an email from Polly who wanted me to do an episode on going to San Pancho. Actually, Polly gave me a great review on iTunes, and she made a request, and now Polly, I’m going to grant your wish and take a day trip with you to San Pancho. Actually formerly known as San Francisco, San Pancho is just 4 kilometers north of the hippy town of Sayulita. Sayulita is located about 38 kilometers north of the Puerto Vallarta Airport. Approximately a 45 minute drive.
Now I began my day trip at about 2 on a Saturday afternoon. I was on the Southside and looked for a bus to take me to Walmart. Okay, I know what you are thinking, Barry, aren’t we going to San Pancho?
Yes, we are going to San Pancho, so instead of me telling you all of the intricacies of bus taking in Puerto Vallarta, let’s review with JR. I have a clip of a conversation I had with him back in January about taking buses in Puerto Vallarta. Let’s see what he says about catching one of those buses from Vallarta, to those beach towns north. JR, Take it away!!!!...

Exclusive Jorge Jimenez Introduction
From the cantinas of Guadalajara, to the opera houses of Europe, Jorge Jiménez is riding the wave to opera and singing success.
The last six months of my music career have been fabulous, fabulous is the best word to describe it, it was wonderful, says Jorge.
He spent the summer of 2010 mesmerizing audiences, conductors, directors and voice coaches in Germany, Italy, France and New York City's Metropolitan Opera.
It was an incredible experience in my life. To travel to those cities in Europe was some kind of magic, says Jorge..
Jorge's fast track really kicked off when he visited Puerto Vallarta in May 2010. He performed at a gala fund raising dinner at Hacienda Palo Maria, just south of town. His music enthralled the audience. He also caught the attention of local impresario Phil Stewart, the event's host, and his close friend the legendary, Vicki Carr, who made a cameo during the evening. Both encouraged and assisted Jorge with performances in the United States. This included another charity event, where he sang a duet with Vicki. He also starred at the wedding of MGM Studios' CEO.
His family played a large part in his life long musical journey. As a small child, Jorge always listened to opera with his grandfather and later his parents encouraged him to sing. His big break came during his sister's wedding. I jumped to sing with the mariachi, says Jorge, And after that I used to sing in cantinas as I was there as a customer and I became the piano players friend and I made rehearsals to help lose the public fear and after that I decided to take one year of my life to get serious about music.
During this time, Jorge was studying medicine and doing his internship. He has no formal music education and claims his schooling came from singing in cantinas and even on the bus. His appreciation of music soon eclipsed his devotion to medicine.
I started to organize my own concerts, says Jorge, And sell tickets to my friends and I started with 100 people in little places and then I was selling 400 tickets, it was amazing how the singing has opened big doors for me in my life, a golden key.
Jorge trains with some of the best opera voice coaches in the world. His exceptional talent and range continue to attract professionals, who wish to bring out his best.
I am sharing all the emotions I have in my heart, says Jorge, And sometimes sharing pain, all is full of passion, passion is the word.
Jorge's exceptional talent as a tenor with a voice full of color and richness has been compared to several legendary performers. Now is your chance to experience his magic, Running With a Dream at Teatro Vallarta on March 25th.
Jorge says, I love to sing, I think it is the most candid way to express myself to other human beings, so when I sing, I can throw my problems to the wind. I want to sing for more people, and I want to share my emotions with them, and I want to make them happy, and make them cry sometimes, make them nostalgic, that's my future in singing.
As implied by his Puerto Vallarta debut performance's name, Jorge is certainly Running With a Dream. A new Mexican national treasure and a voice to be recognized, Jorge Jiménez will capture the imagination of the world.
Friday March 25 at Teatro Vallarta, 8PM. Ticket prices range from $200 to $500 pesos and available at Hacienda San Angel, Cassandra Shaw Jewelry or Tropicasa Realty. Proceeds from this concert will go to Asilo con Calidez San Juan Diego and the SPCA de PV.

¡Viva Mexico! (Pt. 59) - Bus Ride to Sayulita, Nayarit - for only 46 Pesos!
April 22, 2019 - 46 Pesos is about $3.00 CAD, and, frankly, we got what we paid for. But at least we got to Sayulita in decent time, despite the traffic jam in the jungle close to the Sayulita turn-off.
The entire route is just shy of 40km and normally takes just over an hour, considering all the stops along the way.
Where are we going, exactly? I'll keep you in suspense - though, frankly, I'd love to give some suspension to this ricketty ol' bus!
