The Castle-Fortress of Peratallada - Costa Brava, Spain
David's Been Here is traveling Spain's Costa Brava region in search of the area's top attractions and best day trips. In this short video, David and crew head for the medieval town of Peratallada. Meaning carved stone, this Spanish coastal destination is comprised of beautiful stone buildings, picturesque passageways and some excellent restaurants. The first documentation of this historic town dates back to 1065, though evidence of both Roman and Visigoth settlers suggest that the town dates back even further. If you're looking for a great spot to explore, have lunch (try Restaurant Can Nau) or take some amazing pictures, this medieval destination is a perfect place to stop.

Lloret de Mar, La Dona Marinera e Castillo de San Juan – Spain 4K Travel Channel
At the beach of Lloret de Mar, a Woman sculpture on the rock leap to the eye. It is the seafarer woman. La Dona Marinera is a monument in honor of the women whose husbands emigrated to America in order to seek their fortune. Many of the emigrants or Indianos, as they are called here, returned home again and helped Lloret to get a certain prosperity. But it were the women who had to stick together the family in the meantime .
The sculpture was created in 1969 by the Catalan sculptor Ernest Maragall i Noble. He was the son of the Catalan poet Joan Maragall, and in his youth a friend of Picasso. During the Spanish Civil War, he emigrated with his family to Venezuela, where he taught as an art professor. He also created sculptures for public spaces for other Catalan cities such as Barcelona and Gerona.
The bronze sculpture is 2.4 m high and towers above the southern top of the beach. La Dona Marinera has become the symbol of Lloret de Mar. A legend says for those who touch the statue, all wishes come true.
We walk further up the coast, before it goes steeply uphill to the
The castle of San Juan was built in the 11th century under the feudal rule of Sicardis de Lloret and handed over to the diocese of Girona in 1218 .
1356, it was heavily damaged by a Genoese fleet and later by earthquakes, but rebuilt. In 1805 it was almost completely destroyed during the war between England and Spain and France. The oath tower was restored again in 1992.
Today it is a museum and observation tower. From here you can enjoy fantastic panoramic views along the coast.
