Nearest village is Abergynolwyn (the village pub, the Railway Inn does good food)
The peak you see behind the farm is Bird rock. Cadair Idris can also be seen. There is a river running by the edge of the site with a totally unmonitored swimming spot for the brave.
Castell Y Bere (Castle Bere) is nearby and at Abergynolwyn there is Abergynolwyn railway station is a station on the Talyllyn Railway at to Tywyn (seaside town). Nearest towns are Barmouth & Tywyn.
Curiously there is also Nant Gwernol station which is the terminus for the Tywyn railway and is absolutely lost in the woods.

Fields Sowin' - The Mersey Rigger (Richard Friend art work)
As we approach 10,000 channel views, we decided to mark the occasion with a brand-new original song. The art work which accompanies the track is all © Copyright Richard Friend (richardfriend.co.uk), a fantastic artist who we are delighted to announce will be providing the artwork for our next album, to be completed this Autumn.
The song is written by Dave Williams, and reflects on the history of Castell-y-Bere, near Abergynolwyn, associated as it is with the struggle of Welsh Kings against the rule of Edward I.
This recording features Dave - (Guitar/Vox) and Nick - (Guitar/Backing vox).

St Helen's Chapel Barnburgh.
St Helen's Chapel (Well) near Barnburgh. I've passed this place dozens of times without realising what it was, until I came across this fantastic website about the beautiful villages of Barnburgh and Harlington
A lovely write up on the ruins can be found here:
Helens Lane
...which describes the first mention of the site in 1684, but the ruins are much older that this.
Unfortunately the weather was pretty bad with heavy rain when I went up there and was quite overgrown. I'll head back over during the winter when more of the ruins can be see and take some more footage.
Here's some more info from:
St. Helen's Well
The ruins of St. Ellen's Chapel lie in St. Ellen's field, the most easterly of the open fields in the village. The ruins which lay close to Ricknield Street have been examined and described as Norman. They are preserved in a copse a few yards away from a dried up well. A number of holy wells in Yorkshire were dedicated to Elen, the celtic goddess of armies and roads. They were re-dedicated by the early Christians to Helen, the mother of the Emperor Constantine.
