The rising star and showcase winery in Maremma, the central coast of Tuscany.

Company Overview
Rocca di Montemassi shows that there is more to Tuscan wines than Chianti or Brunello.
The estate encompasses over 1,000 acres which are situated in the Maremma, the coastal area of Tuscany. A fortified stronghold, dating from the 10th century, overlooks the vineyards and gives the estate its name.
Vines have been planted here since then and are a key feature in many of the most famous paintings of the area. Historically, the area's primary industry was mining. The minerals in the soil give the grapes and wines intense aromas and flavors. To honor the importance of mining in the area, the property includes a museum celebrating the local industry and resources.

Description
Vermentino and Sangiovese grapes were introduced into Maremma in the 19th century and have become indigenous varieties with a strong affinity for Maremma's climate and soils. Rocca di Montemassi's winemaking emphasis is on fruity wines with soft tannins for early drinking.
