Este bonito e histórico baluarte defensivo fue edificado sobre una antigua villa romana cuyo material se reutilizó para su construcción, el material arqueológico de su Museo proviene en gran medida del yacimiento de la fortaleza y de otros de origen precolonial. Una bella marina, a su lado, armoniza su oferta náutica y deportes marítimos, con su oferta de golf, pues cuenta con numerosos campos de gran calidad. Además de buenos restaurantes y zonas de ocio. Una joya.

One hour south of Malaga you’ll find Puerto de la Duquesa, one of Costa del Sol’s nicest marinas. It’s a beautiful place to take walk along the promenade looking at the boats, have a drink or two in one of the bars and cafés or enjoy a dinner at night.

Puerto de la Duquesa is located in the municipality of Manilva, west of Marbella. It is approximately 60 minutes from Malaga airport, 25 minutes from Gibraltar airport and 25 minutes drive to Puerto Banus.
La Duquesa is an oasis of peace and retains authentic local character and Andalucian charm. The marina is flanked with fine sands and clean and crystalline water beaches which have been awarded with the European Blue flag status. The pretty promenades encircling the port offer a variety of restaurants, bars and cafes. They have a great reputation for the local fresh seafood in the restaurants in the adjacent fishing village of el Castillo. The cosmopolitan atmosphere of Duquesa has made it a well known place for it´s mixture of different cultures and nationalities.Two nights a week the port hosts a unique Crafts Market, popular with the local residents as well as visitors.
For golfers there is the Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed Duquesa golf and country club which boasts an 18-hole course, which features wonderful sea and mountain views, 3 tennis courts, squash, a fully equipped gym, snooker & covered swimming pool. Other golfing courses within a short drive away include: Sotogrande, Valderrama, Alcaidesa and San Rogue.
The large sandy beach stretches for 1650 metres between the port and the rio de Manilva dotted with traditional Spanish Chiringuitos (beach bars) serving beautiful fresh fish at good prices. The lovely beach at Sabanillas is 5 minute walk along the coast, here you will also find an excellent Sunday market.

An evening walk along the boardwalk of Puerto de la Duquesa, a small harbour with lots of restaurants, located between Marbella and Gibraltar. In the evening a small market is held on the northern end.

Castillo de La Duquesa y Punta Chullera. Drone.
La punta Chullera o punta de la Chullera, también llamada punta de Cala Sardina, por su límite oriental con esa cala del Mediterráneo, es un pequeño cabo rocoso localizado en el término municipal de Manilva, en la provincia de Málaga, España.
Se halla a unas 2,5 millas de la boca del río Guadiaro. Está formada por las estribaciones de las Mesas de Chullera, en la ladera de la loma Las Mesas. Es de regular altura y sale al sureste con una restinga que se prolonga bastante por debajo del agua.
Muy cerca de esta punta se sitúa el límite divisionario entre la provincia de Cádiz y la provincia de Málaga. Próxima a su extremo se encuentra la antigua torre de la Chullera, redonda, que domina una amplia zona de costa. Es límite de la playa de Cala Sardina.
