Camden, Maine - Things to Do
Whether you are here for a day, a weekend, a vacation, or a lifetime, the Camden area offers an experience for everyone, all year round. Our picturesque coastal Maine village and surrounding communities will captivate and mesmerize you. It truly is the Maine coast as it was meant to be – “where the mountains meet the sea”.
The Camden area is rich in history and offers a great selection of locally-owned shops, art galleries, boutique hotels and bed and breakfasts, and is one of Maine’s most popular culinary meccas, a foodies paradise, home to several award-winning chefs and top restaurants in the State of Maine.
Camden and the surrounding region are the perfect destination for just about any outdoor adventure – from hiking and mountain biking, to sailing, sea kayaking and paddle boarding. Winter offers downhill skiing and snowboarding at the renowned Camden Snow Bowl, as well as snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in Camden Hills State Park.
Camden is the quintessential New England coastal village and has some of the top rated lodging choices along the coast of Maine. When planning your vacation to Camden, choose the Bay View Collection, a small group of distinctive, luxury boutique hotels whose properties include the Lord Camden Inn, Grand Harbor Inn, and the all new 16 Bay View. Three great choices, one remarkable destination.
Scenic Penobscot Bay
Penobscot Bay is considered by many as one of the top cruising bays in the world. With its rocky coastline, lighthouses, seals, bald eagles, islands, lobster boats and hidden coves, Penobscot Bay offer some of Maine's most beautiful coastal scenery - spectacular offshore islands and high hills rising above the blue bay.

Blue Hill Mountain in Blue Hill, Maine
Blue Hill Mountain is a monadnock, an isolated mountain in an essentially level area, so even though it only rises 934 feet above sea level, it towers above all else on the Blue Hill Peninsula. The Abenaki Indians that once lived in the area called it “Awanadjo,” which means “small, misty mountain.” Today the mountain features a small network of trails that lead to open ledges at its summit where visitors can enjoy views of Blue Hill Bay, Great Pond Mountain and Mount Desert Island. These hiking trails are rocky in some areas, but they aren't particularly long, making them great for families. Check out the full hike description and driving directions, as well as photos from our hike on my blog at aislinnsarnacki.com.
