DreamWalk Lightquest 2003 Castle Hill, Filleigh part 1 (preparations & rehearsals)
August Bank Holiday weekend 2003 saw one of North Devon's biggest and most adventurous community events - Dreamwalk. Organised by Lightquest, specifically to raise funds for an overnight 'bedded' unit for the North Devon Hospice.
Over two nights, more than 20,000 walkers enjoyed just about every type of live entertainment known to man, in the surreal setting of the Fortescue Estate at Castle Hill in Filleigh, the home of Lady Arran.
Dancers, bands, musicians, acrobats, jugglers, fire eaters, elves and pixies, fire labyrinths, stunt-men, drummers, bikers, pipers, morris men, maidens, readers, fairgrounds, opera, orchestra, jazz, folk, flamenco.....the list of credits is endless.
If you played any part in this, or any of the other Lightquest events, please share your memories with us all in the comments below. If you have any more video footage that we could share, please let us know.
Our dear brother Dave Bryant was the producer and artistic inspiration for this, and many other similar events - sadly Dave died of HIV-related cancer in October 2007, having spent his final days in the North Devon Hospice bedded unit.
Our sincere thanks go out to all the people that made this event possible, and to the staff and supporters at the hospice who enabled Dave to leave this world in peace and dignity.
If you enjoyed any of the Lightquest events or these videos, please continue to support hospices and cancer & aids research.
RIP Dave - may your light shine on......

iGhillie 2 - Booking Office Beat 8, The Castle Hill Estate Fishery, River Bray, Devon
These virtual fishing guides, know as iGhillie guides, provide some invaluable insider tips to some of the beats available on our Westcountry Angling Passport scheme. Dave Chapman, Angling Development Officer at the Westcountry Rivers Trust, says, “We have created 10 short film clips with each film following a ghillie around a beat. The ghillie will discuss how best to approach the beat in question, the best techniques to use and the main areas to concentrate on. The aim is to give prospective anglers the feel for a beat and some confidence in how to get the best of the fishing available.
This beat comprises just over 2km of double bank fishing set within the Castle Hill Estate. The beat has only been lightly fished in recent years and is quite overgrown in places although tree management works are ongoing.
The River Bray derives its headwaters from the slopes of Exmoor, as such the water quality is good and benefits from fast flows. The beat is easily accessible from South Molton and Barnstaple, and comprises a number of pools and glides interspersed by riffled sections.
It has a good head of brown trout up to 12 inches and provides a good chance of salmon and sea trout given adequate water, particularly give the recent fish passage works that have taken place downstream. Last year was its first in the Passport and it was lightly fished. Nevertheless, 98 brown trout were recorded with a best of 1lb.

Disc DW 004 `RADSTOCK NORTH` 1972
This is another Picture DVD with a selection of images featuring the now long gone `Radstock North` as taken by the late Dick Weisham in 1972 as before on previous DVDs in this series all the images have required a certain amount of restoration if you visit Radstock today in 2019 the views of the track layout / shed ect have all gone only to be replaced by a modern housing estate. My personal opinion is how sad and short sited the local council was in 1972 that they did`nt stop and think of the potential for employment and tourism that this railway could have brought to the area.
