Broughton Castle is a moated and fortified manor house near Banbury in North Oxfordshire. Set in parkland and built of the rich local Hornton ironstone, it was selected by Simon Jenkins as one of only twenty to be awarded five stars in his book England’s Thousand Best Houses.

Chastleton House is Jacobean country house at Chastleton, Oxfordshire near Moreton in Marsh.
It is a Grade I historical building.
This was a very unique property as the house was still exactly the same as when it had been built 400 years ago between 1607 and 1612.
It is a compelling time capsule of 400 years of family life.
All the furniture and fittings are the originals.
The most interesting item was the Juxon Bible, which was used by the Chaplain Juxon at the executor of Charles I.

Broughton Castle is a medieval fortified manor house in the village of Broughton. The core of the house was built in 1306 and the gatehouse in the early fifteenth century, but most of what we see today dates from the 1550’s. Parts of the films Shakespeare in Love (1998), and Jane Eyre (2011) were shot in the castle.

It is the home of the Fiennes family. The castle sits in parkland and is surrounded by a wide moat. It opens to the public over the summer.

A Visit to Broughton Castle
The home of Lord and Lady Saye and Sele, located some 2 miles from Banbury in Oxfordshire. Permission was given to take the video in the film during a visit to the castle, perhaps one of the most beautiful in England, during August 2011.
See some spectacular views of the castle, some of its interior and the beautiful gardens.
