Ilok Castle or Odescalchi Castle overlooks the town of Ilok in eastern Croatia. It is built on a hill above the town centre, offering views on the Danube and the Pannonian Plain. The castle was originally built in the 15th century by Nicholas of Ilok, Croatian viceroy and the king of Bosnia. The Ottomans conquered Ilok in the 16th century. After the victory against the Ottomans at the Battle of Vienna in 1683, the Emperor Leopold I granted the castle, significant properties and the title of the Duke of Syrmia to Livio Odescalchi, nephew of Pope Innocent XI and a member of the powerful Italian aristocratic Odescalchi family, which would own the castle for the next two centuries. In the 18th century, the Odescalchis reconstructed the castle in the Baroque style. The castle was nationalized by authorities of Yugoslavia in 1945. After a restoration, it was opened to visitors in 2010. The lower two floors host the Museum of the Town of Ilok. Wine cellars of the castle are among the most famous in Croatia.

Dvorac Odescalchi središnje je zdanje srednjevekovnog jezgra Iloka, u njemu je smešten Muzej grada Iloka dok se ispod zgrade nalaze poznati stari iločki podrumi.

Dvorac Odescalchi impresivna je građevina nastala na osnovama dvora kralja Nikole Iločkog iz 15 veka. Naime, kao naknadu za pomoć u oslobađanju Iloka od Turaka car Leopold darovao je srednjovekovni Nikolin dvor s celokupnim iločkim vlastelinstvom, koje je tada zauzimalo veći deo Srema, papi Inocentu XI Odescalchi, odnosno njegovoj kneževskoj porodici. Papini nećaci, aristokrati iz Italije, nadograđuju dvorac i stilski ga menjaju u više navrata, a u konačnici u barokno-klasicističkom stilu. Ispod dvorca uređuju, za to doba izuzetno moderne, vinske podrume te daju snažan zamah vinogradarstvu i vinarstvu. Nakon 1945. godine Odescalchi napuštaju svoje iločko vlastelinstvo, a njihovi potomci su i danas deo italijanskog plemstva i žive u blizini Rima.

The Old Cellar of Ilok is located under Odescalchi Castle, hiding around a million liters of Ilok wine. It is a very rare occasion that someone leaves this place without wanting to try as many wines as possible, due to their high quality and very long tradition.
