Beautiful Nature of Village Ostrov, Tisá, Czech Republic from Travel with Iva Jasperson
Hello everyone...
Village Ostrov was founded in the 15th century as one of the many hammers in the Bela river valley processing iron ore. When the ore deposits near the Děčínský Sněžník were mined, the hammer turned into a glass mill. Due to the picturesque location, a busy summer residence was built from the settlement in the 19th century, there were built hotels and several inns. After the end of the Second World War, the German inhabitants were expelled, the border closed, a unit of the Border Guards was stationed. Approximately 300 meters from the border, the border of the border was built, making part of the valley inaccessible to the public. From the hotels and hostels in the accessible part, there were company holiday resorts and most of the residential houses were used as holiday cottages. Buildings in the border zone were demolished in 1963. After the abolition of the border zone, this area was re-divided and sold for the construction of holiday cottages.

Prague's Slavonic Island - Praha Slovanský Ostrov
This is the Slavonic Island (Slovanský Ostrov), in the Vtlava River. Here you can find the Žofín Palace, where several important musicians presented concerts here, like Richard Wagner in 1863 or Ferenc Liszt and Hector Berlioz.
From this island you can appreciate both shores of the Vtlava River and Prague. Also Charles' Bridge can be seen from here.

Kampa (also Na Kampě) is an island in the Vltava river in central Prague on the side of Malá Strana. Charles Bridge crosses its northern tip and is connected to the island by the street Ulice na Kampě. It is separated from Malá Strana by a narrow artificial channel to the west called the Devil's Stream (Čertovka), a waterway dug to power water mills (no longer existent). It is supposedly named after a sharp-tongued woman who lived in a local home called the Seven Devils.( )
Kampa je malý umělý ostrov na řece Vltavě v Praze na Malé Straně, od níž je oddělen mlýnskou strouhou Čertovkou.( )
Kampa – sztuczna wyspa, a właściwie półwysep o powierzchni około hektara położony w centrum Pragi, w dzielnicy Malá Strana. Leży między rzeką Wełtawą, a wypływającą i wpływającą do niej Čertovką (Czarcim Potokiem) – sztucznym ciekiem wodnym utworzonym w celu napędzania 3 kół młyńskich zasilających młyn Wielki Przeor.

Castle Střekov, Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic from Travel with Iva Jasperson
Castle Střekov, Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic from Travel with Iva Jasperson
Hello everyone...
Střekov Castle was built in 1316 for John of Luxembourg, the father of the Holy Roman Emperor Charles IV, to guard an important trade route to Germany. After changing hands several times, the castle was acquired by the Lobkowicz family in 1563. Its strategic importance led to occupations by Imperial Habsburg, Saxon, and Swedish forces during the Thirty Years' War, as well as successive sieges by Austrian and Prussian armies during the Seven Years' War. Although Střekov Castle was heavily damaged during those conflicts and abandoned as a military installation by the end of the 18th century, the 1800s saw many poets and artists visiting the castle, drawn by a new trend of interest in romantic ruins. Goethe declared the view from the castle's position above the Elbe to be the most beautiful in Central Europe, while Richard Wagner's opera Tannhäuser was supposedly inspired by his visit to Strěkov. The castle was confiscated by the Nazi regime and later the Communist government, but was restituted to the Lobkowicz family in the early 1990s.

Lysá nad Labem - Central Bohemia - Explore Czech Republic with Nick Forrow
Lysá nad Labem is a town in Nymburk District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, located 22 km east of Prague on the Labe (Elbe) river.
Lysá nad Labem is firstly mentioned in the Cosmas chronicle. In the 13th century, a castle was built here and until the reign of the Luxembourgs, the town was property of the Czech queens. Since 1291, there has been evidence of Lysá being a town. In that year, Queen Guta issued a charter to unite the settlements of the Lysá estate into one economic unit. During the Hussite wars the town suffered a lot. At the turn of the 15th and 16th century, the Smiřický family of Smiřice rebuilt the castle into the palace. In 1548 Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor added Lysá to the intimate dominion as a hunting centre. The sustainable development of the town was stopped by the Thirty Years' War. Armed uprising, which burst in the town during the violent recatholisation, is the proof of the presence of the evangelical element until the Battle of White Mountain. The immediate reaction to the religious tolerance was the establishment of the group of the Reformed church, whose compound is still one of the cultural monuments of the town.
