Marquis's Drive Castle Ring Walk, Cannock Chase Walks In Staffordshire, England, UK
Marquis's Drive Castle Ring Walk was about 5.25 miles in distance. The terrain of the route was a combination of woodland tracks and paths; plus a couple of short road sections. The walking was on undulating ground with gradual to moderate inclines, except for one short steep ascent and descent. Route finding was easy with obvious paths, good waymarking and good landmarks. Some of the woodland tracks were muddy, waterlogged and slippery in places.

Castle Ring on Cannock Chase
Just a little video i made at Cannock Chase.
I visited an area known as Castle Ring. As part of a paranormal group, we have investigated this area a number of times. It always throws up some interesting phenomena.
Cannock Chase has been linked with sightings of cryptids including bigfoot like creatures, ufos, ghosts, big cats (which is unusual in the UK) and a number of sightings of werewolf like animals and many other odd reports.
A few weeks back, late one Saturday evening we found a random path that led us back up to Castle Ring. The purpose of this video was essentially to find the same path and have a little explore of it.

CASTLE RING ANCIENT HILL FORT STAFFORDSHIRE + SHOUTOUT RESULTS!!
CASTLE RING ANCIENT HILL FORT STAFFORDSHIRE + SHOUTOUT RESULTS!!
WELL DONE AND THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK PART! THANKS SO MUCH TO YOU ALL FOR SUPPORTING THE CHANNEL!!
Overview
Castle Ring hill fort, although not yet dated, may be assumed to have been built over two thousand years ago, near the modern village of Cannock Wood. Standing at 795 feet (261m) above sea level, it is the highest point on Cannock Chase. This forest, now largely consisting of coniferous trees which would not have been in evidence at the time of the forts use, now closely surrounds the fort through 270º and so veils the panoramic view that it had in its heyday, when the trees would have been kept at a distance. Yet the northern aspect is unhindered and affords a fine view over the south-eastern corner of the Chase and the terrain beyond, though sadly a little blemished by the more recent addition of a coal power station at Rugeley, several miles distant. As is common with hillforts in the Midlands area, one fort can see several others on the horizon, and the occupiers of Castle Ring would have been able to see another fort, 4½ miles to the south, at Brownhills, and to the west as far as 20 miles to the Wrekin.
The fort at its widest point measures 790 feet (260m) across, and its interior encompasses some 8½ acres. It consists of a single, vaguely pentangular ditch, which, on the northern face, sinks to a depth of 12 feet (4m), though in most places it is a good deal shallower than this; the effects of two thousand years of erosion. A path, which was created in the Victorian era, sits on top of this rampart and follows it about the perimeter. Originally there was only one entranceway to the fort, although today this is not immediately apparent as a track cuts directly through the middle of it, from east to west, and makes it seem as though there are two entrances. The eastern entrance is the original one, the western was opened during the 19th Century to extend a trackway through to the hall at Beaudesert.
Castle Ring ceased to be occupied in 50 A.D. The reason is not known, though it may be assumed that the change in culture brought about by the Roman Invasion was a factor; tribal settlements situated on hills being at odds with Latin methods. During the 12th or 13th Century, a hunting lodge was established inside the fort and its foundations can still be made out in the eastern portion. At some stage, not at all certain when but perhaps during the Medieval period by their design, the eastern interior of the fort was ploughed and farmed.

Wikipedia says.
Castle Ring is an Iron Age hill fort, situated high up on the southern edge of Cannock Chase, Staffordshire, in the village of Cannock Wood, England. Castle Ring was thought to have been occupied around AD 50, by the Celtic Cornovii tribe.
Apart from the perimeter earthworks, little remains visible. However, there is also evidence of farming having taken place at some point, since parts of the ground in the ring have been ploughed but there is still some debate as to whether these were created by the Medieval hunters( who also built a hunting lodge on the ring sometime in the Medieval period - the remains of this are still visible today) or the Celtic tribe.
It is situated north of Burntwood and adjacent to the Heart of England Way. There are excellent views over Cannock Chase, the Trent Valley and Staffordshire.
It is the highest point on Cannock Chase with an elevation of 242 metres (794 feet).

Cannock is the most populous of the three towns in the district of Cannock Chase in the central southern part of the county of Staffordshire in the West Midlands region of England. Cannock lies to the north of the West Midlands conurbation on the M6, A34 and A5 roads, and to the south of Cannock Chase, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
Cannock is served by a railway station on the Chase Line. The town comprises four district council electoral wards and the Cannock South ward includes the civil parish of Bridgtown, but the rest of Cannock is unparished. Cannock forms part of the Cannock Built-up Area which also includes Cheslyn Hay, Great Wyrley, Hednesford, Huntington, Heath Hayes and Wimblebury.
Cannock is on a south-west facing slope, falling from the highest point on Cannock Chase (244 m) at Castle Ring, to about 148 m in the town centre and 111 m near Wedges Mills. The soil is light with a gravel and clay subsoil, and there are extensive coal measures. Cannock Chase German war cemetery is located nearby containing 4,885 German military dead from the First and Second World Wars. It is managed by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
Cannock is about 20 miles (30 km) by road north-north-west of Birmingham, 80 miles (130 km) south-south-east of Manchester and 130 miles (210 km) north-west of London. Cannock is 9 to 10 miles (14 to 16 km) by road from many of the nearest towns and cities (Aldridge, Lichfield, Stafford, Walsall, Willenhall and Wolverhampton), but Hednesford (2 miles (3 km)), Burntwood and Penkridge (5 miles (8 km)), Bloxwich and Brownhills (6 miles (10 km)) and Rugeley (7 miles (11 km)) are nearer.
Cannock is located close to the M6, M6 toll and M54 motorways. There is an extensive network of local buses radiating out from Cannock town centre. The town's main bus operator is Arriva Midlands, who operate the majority of services to and from Cannock bus station. Cannock railway station closed in 1965 as part of the Beeching Axe. It reopened in 1989 under British Rail and is part of the Rugeley - Cannock - Walsall - Birmingham line operated by London Midland. There are two trains per hour from the station to Rugeley, Walsall, and Birmingham. The journey time to Birmingham is around 45 minutes.
