Castle Tucker in Wiscasset, Maine
Perhaps the most original and prominent historic house in Wiscasset, Maine, Castle Tucker dates from 1807. It was built at the behest of Judge Silas Lee, a leading jurist and politician of the Federal period, when Wiscasset was the busiest port in the United States north of Boston. In 1858 Captain Richard H. Tucker, a local shipping magnate, purchased the house. Tucker subsequently enlarged the home, adding the Italian features that give it its distinctive appearance.
Today, Castle Tucker is a museum owned and operated by Historic New England (formerly the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities).

Some Historic Homes in Wiscasset, Maine
Some historic homes in the town of Wiscasset, Maine.
With its location on the Sheepscot River providing easy access to the North Atlantic Ocean, Wiscasset developed as an important seaport in the years after the United States gained independence from Great Britain. Prosperous merchants and sea captains built homes near the center of town, close to the river. The town's significance dwindled after the Jeffersonian Embargo of 1807, but shipping and ship building remained important through the 19th century.
Here we see a few of the historic homes on Bradbury Street and on High Street. Wiscasset today remains the county seat of Lincoln County, Maine, and the pretty town is popular with tourists passing through town on U.S. Route 1.

Wiscasset ~ the prettiest village in Maine
Wiscasset has been dubbed the prettiest village in Maine. Several other places in the state might also claim this title, but Wiscasset is an undeniably attractive and pleasant place, marred only by the traffic that rumbles by on its Main Street, aka U.S. Route 1.
Here we see the heart of downtown, including several local institutions: the Taste of Maine bakery, Red's Eats (a tiny shack famous for its lobster rolls), and Sarah's Cafe. We then drive eastward out of town, over the Sheepscot River and toward the Boothbay Peninsula.
The Sudbury Inn Bethel Maine - Virtual Video Tour

Popular with generations of skiers, hikers, tourists and other visitors for its accommodations and dining, the inn is the only B&B in town that offers lodging, fine dining, a French-style bistro and a lively pub (Suds Pub), under one roof. The inn welcomes families, offering 7 two bedroom suites and a three bedroom apartment. It is also very pet friendly, welcoming furry guests and their owners in the Carriage House. The Sudbury Inn boasts excellent staff, many of whom are Mainers and long time residents of Bethel and its environs, and are experts on what to do and see in the area.

Trains in Maine!
What a great way to kick start Summer!
I was able to partner with MidCoast Maine this weekend to bring in the summer season!
I started with an old fashion ride through history over at Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington Railway Museum, which was amazing!!! I was blown away by how enthusiastic and passinate everyone was! There was an amazing amount of history that this two foot narrow guage has in the great state of Maine! It's not every day you get to drone from a moving train, bonus points!!
It was an amazing weekend. I brought in the first evening of summer at Sheepscot General store, with their once a year ice cream solitices celebration!
The following day I had the chance to take a tour through Castle Tucker in Wiscasset Maine. Followed by more ice cream at The Jefferson Scoop and a walk in the park. It is an Amazing area to visit this summer!!!
Thanks again to MidCoast Maine for a great weekend and helping me Go Discover Something Awesome!!!

SeeHearSayLearn.com presents a series of videos to get you speaking and learning languages such as English, Spanish / Espanol, French, German, Albanian, Arabic, and more. We are working hard to get our videos uploaded. We provide you with word pronunciations, definitions, translations, stories, rhymes, riddles, jokes, tongue twisters, and anything that will help bridge the gap between your current fluency to your desired proficiency and understanding. Whether you're just learning or trying to bolster your intellectual quotient into a new stratosphere of concise and succinct communications, allocating the proper verbiage could be paramount to illustrating a picture for the recipient or merely shoving drab nondescript sounds of failure down their auditory meatuses. Run on sentence you say? I'd agree. Utilizing big complicated words isn't usually the most effective form of communication, but adapting your language to your recipient will be the most effective way to transfer your thoughts. Having a wide array of tools for each project will allow you to tailor your message for the most effect and efficient use of your time. To write, read, and listen to language takes fewer words than you might imagine. In each language, you could likely get away with understanding a few thousand words and be completely comfortable with many different language settings. Why even a few hundred can get you quite far.
If ever you find any of the words to be inaccurate in any way, which may most often be the pronunciation I want to thank anyone who reaches out to send me a message regarding any errors. I will do my best to read and correct any perceived errors. Be advised that many pronunciation can vary slightly between regions.
My congratulations to anyone broadening their word bank in any language. Science is clear that with more word associations languages become easier to learn and has the potential to be a protective buffer against dementia and Alzheimer's Disease.
