Amazing Boat Trip Around Lan Ha Bay - Ha Long Bay | Cat Ba Ventures

Adeyto ⚓???????? HA LONG BAY to LAN HA BAY & CAT BA ISLAND $4 Ferry DRACO QK3 HOTEL
for under $4 USD you will take the Ferry from Tuan Chau Island to Cat Ba Island and on the way you will get to see the landscape of Ha Long Bay, you will pass through the gulf where the luxury cruises are anchored and empty during the day while their customers are shoveled to the cave & kayak activities together with the standard day trip tourists. After passing by these ships we will even get to see a small part of the fascinating Floating Village before reaching the port of Cat Ba Island. There you should get off immediately to be one of the first to get to the one bus that transfers people to the Cat Ba Center because the bus is small and people might have huge backpacker luggage and you might get no seat if you are the last one to board the bus. It costs less than $1.5 to get where all hotels are and it will cross the entire island for this taking some 20-30 minutes. There are also taxis and scooters at the Ferry port area but of course the bus is the cheapest option and you should hurry to get the seat.
The nice hotels are facing a bay that at night is filled with pretty lit-up boats fishing for squid. It was the first time that I didn't book a hotel in advance and I walked along the promenade to see with my own eyes what hotel and surroundings i like. So happy to have walked all the way to Draco QK3 Hotel and upon asking the staff if they have rooms on the top floor with bay view, he was so kind to take me see the room before deciding if i should stay there. Very clean and cute room with shower and an unbeatable view allover the bay from the balcony!! And very Quiet!! Read reviews of other hotels close to bars where the party is going on till late and so it was wonderful to be in such quiet area. Most of the locals use scooters instead of walking so there's always traffic and then they aggressively use their hoops to notify each-other to not crash so this hoop sound pollution can be quite annoying when staying at a lower floor and closer to the center of the bay strip. Breakfast included $21 and they cooked delicious dinner for me. Paid everything with credit card, would definitely stay there again, staff spoke English too.
Solo Kayak Ha Long Bay and Cat Ba Island
Here is a longer video of our kayaking excursion in Halong Bay, Vietnam. We stayed on Cat Ba Island and walked to Ben Beo Harbor and rented them from Blue Swimmer Adventures. They included a map, dry bag, spray skirt, and life jackets. We paid a little more than what some of the other operators offered but Blue Swimmer had the best gear and kayaks, which even had rudders on them.
If you're on a tight budget or looking to experience Halong Bay on your own without having to take a cattle boat cruise this is a great alternative. We were able to get closer to the limestone karsts, paddle through sea caves, enjoy secluded beaches, and see the floating village without a guided tour.

I use a GoPro Hero 4 to record my Vlogs. I intend to upgrade me gear as I travel. Will Probably a DSLR camera when I arrive in Australia on my working holiday visa.
I use to be a mechanic and decided enough was enough, I’m not wasting my life doing something I semi enjoy when I could do something I love and admire!
So far I have been to Japan and South Korea, China and Hong Kong on this trip, currently I’m in Vietnam. After Vietnam I am travelling to, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indionesia. Thats the plan anyway. When the time comes and the money is no more it’s off to Australia on a working holiday visa.

VIETNAM | Exploring Halong Bay & Cát Bà | Private Boat Tour
During our Vietnam adventures we discovered a private boat tour of Halong bay and the Cát Bà area. This was by far one of the highlights of our Vietnam travels not only because we had the boat all to ourselves but because we could go to all the quieter serene spots in the area, cycle around peaceful villages but chill out all together in this absolutely stunning scenery and calm waters.
We discovered the private (and affordable) tour through a friend and between 4 people it ended up being a lot cheaper than the same number of nights on the busier cruises in the main part of Halong bay and we personalized the trip with kayaking and cycling through a village:

Cát Bà Island is the largest of the 367 islands spanning 260 km2 (100 sq mi) that comprise the Cat Ba Archipelago, which makes up the southeastern edge of Lan Ha Bay in Northern Vietnam. Cat Ba island has a surface area of 285 km2 (110 sq mi) and maintains the dramatic and rugged features of Ha Long Bay.

It is commonly used as an overnight hotel stop on tours to Ha Long Bay run by travel agents from Hanoi. This island belongs to Haiphong city.

Cat Ba is the largest island in the Bay and approximately half of its area is covered by a National Park, which is home to the highly endangered Cat Ba langur. The island has a wide variety of natural ecosystems, both marine and terrestrial, leading to incredibly high rates of biodiversity. Types of natural habitats found on Cat Ba Archipelago include limestone karsts, tropical limestone forests, coral reefs, mangrove and sea grass beds, lagoons, beaches, caves and willow swamp forests.

Cat Ba Island is one of the only populated islands in Ha Long Bay, with roughly 13,000 inhabitants living in six different communes, and 4,000 more inhabitants living on floating fishing villages off the coast. The large majority of the population can be found in Cat Ba town, which is located at the southern tip of the Island (15 km (9 mi) south of the national park) and is the commercial center on the Island. Since 1997, Cat Ba town has grown rapidly and has become a tourist hub for both the Island and greater Ha Long Bay. In addition, almost all areas of the island are deployed with free wifi access points as well as 3.75 generation mobile networks, which can make visiting and working on the island easier.

Cat Ba Historical name called Cac Ba Island means Women’s Island (Cac meaning all and Ba meaning women). Legend has it that many centuries ago, three women of the Tran Dynasty were killed and their bodies floated all the way to Cat Ba Island. Each body washed up on a different beach and all three were found by local fishermen. The residents of Cat Ba built a temple for each woman, and the island soon became known as Cat Ba.

Archaeological evidence suggests that people have lived on Cat Ba Island for almost 6,000 years, with the earliest settlements being found on the southeastern tip of the Island close to the area where Ban Beo harbour sits today. In 1938, a group of French archaeologists discovered human remains belonging to the Cai Beo people of the Ha Long culture, which lived between 4,000 and 6,500 years ago… considered to be perhaps the first population group occupying the northeastern territorial waters of Vietnam… [and] the Cai Beo people may be an intermediary link between the population strata at the end of the Neolithic Age, some 4,000 years ago.

Cat Ba Island has become the adventure-tourism capital of Vietnam, and many of the activities advertised are nature-based. Visitors can kayak and take boat cruises through Ha Long Bay and the Cat Ba Archipelago, hike through the national park, mountain bike around the Island, spend time hiking and swimming on Monkey Island just offshore, tourist can stay at Monkey Island Resort for real relax time on private beach, explore the Island's many caves, swim on Cat Co 1, 2, or 3 (three sandy beaches a short walk from Cat Ba town), or even go rock climbing and deep water soloing on the limestone karsts in Lan Ha Bay. CAT BA ISLAND | HA LONG BAY, VIETNAM - Land of the Dragons
After spending a number of weeks in Hanoi, Vietnam, we traveled to Cat Ba Island & Ha Long Bay to explore the land of the dragons. The beautiful landscapes and lush scenery did not disappoint as we explored the history of the island as well as rode motorbikes along the coast. We wrapped up our trip in Cat Ba by taking a day cruise through the beautiful islands of Ha Long Bay where the giant mountains jet up from the sea and stand with power.

We chose to go to Lan Ha from Cat Ba Island as it was cheaper and we heard it is less touristy than the popular Halong City and we weren’t disappointed. Our Hostel: Cat Ba Hostel - don't bother staying there! We only stayed there as it was peak time and there were only dorms left on the whole island, as a couple we stay in private rooms!

Turns out the GoPro sound doesnt work through the waterproof casing thing, so music instead!! Woot woot!
There was also a monkey island place we went to after, a girl literally got attacked by a few monkeys, she had to go get a rabies shot!! But unfortunately the battery had died by that time :(
Why is it so hard to find a battery that lasts all day long?
