Whale watching from Cat-Balou
The whale watching tour, from the vessel 'Cat-Balou', out from Eden, Sapphire Coast, New South Wales, during 'whale season' is a must. To see the Humpback whales during their annual migration down the east coast of Australia stop off for a bit of tucker (plankton) is truly special. It's about the only accessible spot where this may be seen by the 'average' person. We travel out into Two-folds Bay, past the resident dolphins and seals, into the Pacific Ocean just off the coast. Many eyes scan the horizon in all directions, when, as expected, the telltale 'V' shape blows may be seen at a distance. Slowly, as the whales get use to the boat, they come closer to investigate us. Then the magic starts, as the passengers realise, that, the whales are just as interested in ourselves, as we are of them. They come closer to the boat and, give one final show, then, depart, show over. To think, this happens every day of the 'whale season', we are blessed, the waters off Eden, where once whales were hunted, we now hunt them still, this time with cameras. Just on this, please notice the number of pictures taken by the passengers, amazing.

Fun Search things to do Eden, Pambula and Merimbula, Australia
In the Victorian September school holidays FunSearch went on a roadtrip adventure from Melbourne to the stunning Sapphire Coast (far south coast of NSW). It’s an absolutely beautiful part of Australia, teeming with Australian wildlife including echidnas, kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, goannas, seals, turtles, dolphins - and lots of friendly whales! the landscape in which the animals live, is its own natural attraction
Of course we used Funsearch.com.au photo and video search to select a place to stay and lots of fun things to do - accommodation, restaurants, activities, tours, natural attractions, offroad tracks for the Isuzu MU-X to play on and much more.
This little film captures a small sample of the fun to be had on the Sapphire Coast, no matter what your age. We will certainly be back again.
Thanks to the excellent people running these wonderful operations:
