My morning scuba dive in the Avalon / Casino point dive park; Catalina Island January 29, 2016
It was a lovely day for a dive, so I got up early and headed down to the dive park and got in the water about 8:00 am and this is some of what I saw.

Dive Catalina
Quick trip out to Catalina for a dive. We ended up doing a shore dive at the Casino Dive Park in Avalon. The water temp was about 64 even though it was late December! About 50 feet of visibility and I was really impressed with the amount of sea life there was just TONS of fish. Amazing spot!
03/14/2015-03/15/2015 Casino Point Dive Park: Catalina, CA
While my girlfriend and her mother ran the Catalina Marathon, I spent a few hours underwater at Casino Point. Invasive sargassum weed has covered almost every available spot in the shallows after winter storms ripped up most of the kelp.
The conditions, however, couldn't have been better. We easily had 80' of visibility and temperate conditions with abundant life at every turn. I'd like to return in the summer when the kelp has regrown - here's hoping it can recover!

Catalina Island UFO - Leland Hanson video - 1966
On assignment to photograph Catalina Island for the US Navy, Mr. Leland Hanson of the Coast Guards, was in a helicopter when he filmed this object, which at first hovered, then sped across the length of the island. According to independent photographic experts, the disc's calculated velocity was between 130 to 170mph, and had no apparent wings or tail that would signify it as an airplane. However, researchers at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory computer enhanced the image and found that there might have been a tail rudder. The filming is shown first at real speed, then again in slow motion.

The video was shot on a dive during the last week of December, 2016. Water temperature was about 60 degrees. Unfortunately, the visibility was not so good -- about 25 to 30 feet. The bottom was pretty stirred up and a mild current made the visibility worse.
Equipment : GoPro Hero 4 silver with a Black Molly 3 video light (Big Blue) mounted on a Cam Dive tray.
